Pais Vasco Stage 4 - Amurrio - Eibar (Arrate)

Sammy Sanchez has been looking fairly strong. He has to go for it on this stage and try to take time out of Horner and Kloden. The stage should suit him. There may well be someone up the road to take the stage who is not a GC contender but he needs to take some seconds off his GC rivals here.

My guess is he will go too early, (or not be strong enough), cause a split in the leading group, go off on his own or with 1 or 2 others, and then be pulled back and end up losing a couple of seconds on the short descent to the finish.

Samu might not be the descender he used to be, but I can't see him losing time there.

I think the climb is enough, and the summit close enough to the finish to hold what gap you have over the top. will be an interesting stage anyway.

Hoping Gesink actually hits the front of the "peloton" today (0;06 here ) on the climb..
i'm with you..can't wait for the broadcast to start !

gesink will have to be a lot better then the last few days to feature here. I'd love to see him try.
I don't think we'll see the Condor attack. He's in training mode, riding a steady tempo up the climbs. Usually that's enough to limit his losses.

Horner and Samu will be the ones making the race, like last year.

Chris Anker Sørensen said to the danish media, that his legs felt good and todays stage suited him nicely (as i read it, because there is none of those redicioulus steep parts today), and that he really wanted to catch a breakaway today. Just a FYI :)

Everything is great for Duarte if I believe whatever you're saying 24/7 about colombians..

I think it is time we embrace the Colombians my friend, it is only a matter of time before they win every single race going in a vertical direction.
It has been stated by the gods that Henao will podium giro 12' with ease. WITH EASE!! Why fight it? yep I'm about ready to jump on that bandwagon !

Tiresome hype aside, Duarte seems to be truly something. Part of me wants him to learn to ride more tactically and do better in the courses that actually suit him, while another (bigger) part of me just wants him to keep attacking whenever the slopes get above 3%.

He is talented, one of the few Colombians Ryo can't over-hype for me, because I liked him before I even knew who Ryo was.
I wouldn't be expecting him to be beating the head of state yet, but in a year or two who could be backing this aggression with real power. He is on the right track.

I mean even in those early races Ruta del Sol, Murcia, GP Lugano, he would show great balls and form but not win. This race now on 2 occasions as well.

It reminds me of an earlier career Gilbert whose attacks were always exciting but for the most part failed. Maybe the timing of his attacks are a bit premature. Gilbert seems to have got it right and with Duarte I think he will do the same. The impressive thing with Duarte is that once his attacks fail he still is able to stay with those that reel him and it has been some of the sports most prominent riders. He's got a bright future. My question is where is the rest of his Geox team? His attacks are certainly not part of a bigger plan that if they fail they could be setting someone else up because there has been only him.

Geox talking on the road about their World Tour exclusion.
