I'm happy for Meersman. Before Paris - Nice he said in press, he's going for a stage win and stages #3 and #4 suit him best. I even thought, hey, it'll be hard to beat Valverde on these stages, but nevertheless Gianni has got this win, great!

The theory is on the short sharp climbs at the finish, lactic acid builds up. By warming down you disperse it otherwise recover is affected.

So much fuss for nothing, let Wiggins do what Wiggins wants to do. Seriously...

Can someone explain me why OPQS rode today? Chavanel and Leipheimer are not that fast in such a sprint...

Trying to weaken Wiggins?

I didn't see much of the stage, but I would guess to just stay out of trouble, given the echelons, road furniture, and crashes that have affected the race so far.

Plus, as race leader, his various obligations (podium, media, dope control) mean that he'll get his massage a lot later than the average rider, so this helps in the interim.

Has anyone read the Cyclingnews report on todays stage by Daniel Benson, apparently Wiggins is showing his class whilst Valverde is struggling to return to his old form:eek:

Sometimes journalists are so biased its unreal, I dont mind him bigging up Wiggins but to suggest a rider who has 4 victories to his name already and won yesterday, is struggling to match his previous form is a bit much. I dont ever recall Valverde dominating Paris-Nice and winning every stage in the past.

He then claims today wasnt anti-climatic even though it turned out to be nowhere near as difficult as yesterday and almost 60 riders finished together. I seriuosly think anyone can do race reports these days.
