Not really surprised, but I wondered how he could possibly miss the fact that there was a Vacansoleil rider conspicuously riding off the front of the race: out of the saddle, taking glances back, in shot.

Vacanso - what??? What's that some Dutch continental team or something??? :D:D:D

So would you have predicted a guy like Westra dropping Wiggins like he stood still and take time back?

Cycling is not to be predicted. So don't be a wise guy

My point exactly. I was trying to make it humerously but that seems to have been missed by you. I tend not to make predictions because you end up looking an **** either way. (which again was the point I was trying to make)

Em .... Westra would not have taken Yellow if he had powered to the line instead of sitting up. He only lost a couple of seconds by sitting up. If he powered to the line he still would have been 3 - 4 seconds down on GC. Wiggo would still have been in yellow tonight anyway.

Every second counts for the GC, those seconds might stop from winning GC later on, who knows.

Valverde was too big of a fav for this stage. People seem to think he's as good as Contador or J-Rod at these steep hills, but he's not.
Ah, that's why he beat J-Rod the last time on this particular steep hill ;)

Predictions are fun that's we make them. So you are afraid of making predictions because of what others might think of you......

But I doubt he was measuring times + distances as he was cruising to the line.

I bet if he did it again he'd ride a bit longer before celebrating.

He did it after he realised he had won. Fighters celebrate before the judge declares the winner if it's won by points, don't they?

yeah that's only mental games towards the jury. but a fight should never go to the jury. then you have failed in my opinion :)

Doesn't matter at all indeed. Wether he will have 3 or 6 seconds deficit, Westra will still easily make up for it on Col d'Eze.

20 seconds should not be a problem if you saw the difference in freshness :p

What I mean is that they feel like they won it by margin they don't have to prove anything. If it was a tight fight I can see why they want to manipulate the jury.

if they won by big margin they will cheer out of relief as well. keep in mind that after a fight you are so tired physically and mentally you are happy to eb still alive. still in netherlands trainers teahc you to cheer as soon as the bell goes to manipulate the jury. maybe if you believe in it it works.

Indeed, if not that hard fall on stage 2 he would have been even in better shape. Looking stunning so far. Working his way into Tour squad so far from these performances.

It's still incredibly stupid no matter how great he did.

He was simply caught up in the moment. As was mentioned, the biggest win of his career, one is entitled to be a bit overwhelmed by it and not be thinking any further than the present. It's understandable. I'm quite happy for the guy.:)

Loved what he did. First things first, celebration had to be done, and now he has the chance to win it all.
