Cancerous chase group helping Henao for no apparent reason than getting to the team bus half a minute earlier.
Why? That's racing. There was still a very outside chance of a stage win - gap was only 20 seconds or so in the end. Not like they were 5 minutes back.

Are you serious? There was no way in hell they could catch the front group.

They pulled back 40 seconds on the descent so yes they did have a chance at catching the tiring front group, considering Colbrelli and Matthews was in the second group then they should of been chasing as the stage win was up for grabs

Fair play to Henao. Isolated and put up a brilliant fight, closing down attacks and keeping the group compact over the climb and managed to get people besides himself working in the group. Didn't bottle it completely and wins his first ever stage race.

No idea why Bahrain did all that work to sprint for 4th

maybe it's good for their palmares...
Thing is Colbrelli would get 4th whether they were 19 secs back or 50 seconds back. I guess they thought they could bring him back and sprint for the win, but once you could see that wasn't going to happen there was no real reason for Bahrain to chase.

De la Cruz will be very proud of what's done, very proud... F*ing wheelsucker.
When you win like this knowing Contador had to go full gas ending up exhausted, you are *** wheelsucker.

When you lose the way Zakarin did with Rui Costa at Abu Dhabi, you're *** stupid.

There will always be someone insulting no matter what you do.

Wow...caught only the last 20km because watched T-A before. And off course first thing I see is Contador 1min in front of the GC group. What a champion this man is! In the end I won't argue about who deserved what...I need to rewatch the stage but I think both Henao and Alberto would be deserving winners. Congrats Henao, thank you Contador!

Congratulations to Henao, he gave it all and did a terrific ride.

My head can't accept how Contador loses this. Same scenario as last year, same, or nearly the same gap...

All the race circumstances and pawns were after him. Not saying on purpose, but it's really frustrating how everything unfolds against him once again.

Yet he never gives up, he always goes for the win no matter what. He is one of the most exciting riders ever and he makes every race he's in better to watch. Hat's off to Contador for igniting this race!

What a race!!! :surprised:

Good for Sergio - at last a reward in his bumpy career :)
...and what more can be said about Contador? hat off to him for another display of courage and pure racing spirit! - perhaps bittersweet result since he gave everything & truly merits the title, but that's cycling!

grate race overall!!

Calling people cancerous, aid s or asking for SKY to die is just dreadful...mods ??

Why are these coments allowed on here...everyone rode the race as they chose and that is cycling

Bravo Alberto but also great great ride by Henao who never gave up ...chapeau

if only Contador fans had 1% of his class

Of course there was a posibility. Contador could have blown up, the other two playing cat and mouse, punctures, crashes, or just fatigue from being in a 50km break.

What was the alternative for Colbrelli? Just sit on wheels and save what strength he had left for the bus ride back to the hotel?

cant really blame bahrain for chasing, its not like they didnt want to chase it down...they just have mediocre riders in their team so ofc they couldnt do it and in the end it looked like they helped henao when its more like they failed their own goal which was a stage victory

Yes, I want the team that has a way too high budget to disappear from cycling. They have more than the 3 next richest teams combined.

And that's leaving out all the clinic stuff.

I have not watched the stage but from the looks of it, it came down to a thriller. Contador is great Champion and he just made Henao's win that much better. Congratulations to Henao.

What's up with the hate for Cruz. He didn't have to work at all. Why??? He played his cards knowing Contador had to go full gas. End of story.

shocking the post on here.

I actually didn't expect Contador to gain any time today, but he pulled off a great one and just missed it. If he would have won that sprint (or dropped De La Cruz), would he have received additional bonus seconds for the win? Like 2 seconds more?!
