~300 new cases in a day. 8 days of PN. At current rate that will be ~ 2000 new cases. My prediction is that they will cancel midway like UAE.

France has about the same number of cases today that Italy had a week ago. Based on that we should expect well over 2,000 new cases in the next eight days, probably over 5,000. Coronavirus to win Paris-Nice is the most confident prediction I'll make all season.

Unfortunately I won't be particularly surprised if we end up with another quarantine like UAE at this race. However, even if that doesn't happen, I'll be surprised if at least a stage or two isn't cancelled.

Forget giving 3 stars to Pinot. He has admitted in an interview, that he is not in form to compete for the victory or even a podium. Expecting a top 10 placing, but not higher than 6th or 7th.

"there are a lot of other favourites, including those who say they are not", as Ledanois said ;). There also was an interview with Molard in the papers today, and he expects Pinot to shine and Quintana to fade

So, as it actually might take place checks front page, at least the first two stages or so, some short thoughts about some riders:

Quintana: I'm quite excited to see what that was. Where did it suddenly come from again? What did it mean? Will it go on?

Pinot: Not at his best so far, but will it get better? I assume so. His disappointment over having to let Quintana get away like that may have been bigger than his form is actually bad.

Schachmann: My favourite for this race, with that time trial, and the mountains not being so very scary. At least he did not look too bad at Algarve in comparison with Evenepoel, and if Evenepoel is the new Merckx, Schachmann is the new... Poulidor? :p

Higuita: I don't know, he simply looks great to me. I did not pick him for the manager game, because I thought it was too much of a gut feeling. But... he still looks so promising to me!

Alaphilippe: If he tries to make it to the Worlds and Lombardia this year, also tries to shine in the Ardennes, the Tour, he should not be at his best yet. So, is he really behind the schedule or just not used to not winning anymore? I couldn't tell.

Cosnefroy: As everybody knows Cosnefroy is going to win every second race he enters this year, and as there might not be many left, why not win this one? No, probably not.

Lots of other riders looking good, too. :)

Besides, I want to see how Bora plays it with Ackermann and Sagan.
I'm really looking forward to this!

Latour could be an insteresting dark horse, same with Dylan Teuns.
I'm also interested to see what Benoot will do, now that he's riding for Sunweb.

While they're showing casualties of the spill, "6 and a half" echelons' formed.
C'mon, France TV., get serious.
