Kooij has been very underwhelming so far this season... he's always up there or thereabouts, but he just doesn't have the speed. That was quite different last year.

Being a lone domestique/sprinter in a team with no support, is very different to being a protected sprinter with a lead out train.

I don't think Jumbo is expecting him to win stages this race... he's mainly there as a dom, but obviously has the freedom to pick up the UCI points he can in sprints.

This is one of Kooij's main goals of the spring. He's not here as a domestique, when the climbs come he will be, but so far he's been a protected rider. If he were only here for domestique duties of course they would have brought someone else. You know, an actual domestique.

No, I think higher. 8-5-3, unless I heard this incorrectly from the commentators

edit: I searched for it, at the TDF 2023 during the stage it’s 8-5-2, and at the finish 10-6-4
Have UAE paid them?

I never said "only", especially because everyone knows, that Jumbo are quite good at spreading the love in the team.

However, he's got no riders dedicated to protecting him and no train, because the overall goal of the race is for Vingo to win the GC, and as such he is predominantly there as a dom, except for the last few Ks of sprinter stages... and when the team needs him to fight for intermediate bonus seconds, to take them away from Pog.

Van Hooydonck for Jumbo almost crashed two riders before that sprint, pretty bold.

Congratulations to Mads Pedersen for winning the sprint.

Pogi gaining another 6s on a sprinters stage. All eyes now on stage 3 and TTT.

10-6-4 doesn't even make sense. 10-6-2 is what they should be. As it is, someone who finishes 2-3 gets less advantage than one who finishes 3-4 (in the first case, a net of 2 seconds are earned, in the second, a net of 4 seconds is earned, despite only finishing 3rd)

Looked like it wasn’t his fault. Sometimes things just happen at high speed.

So what are the damages projected to be for tomorrows TTT? How much time will Jumbo gain?

TTT in 2019, 21,5km made these gaps.

I expect UAE losing more than 30".

If they do lose a lot of time It will be kinda hilarious knowing how well McNulty and Almeida did in the TT yesterday. But Teddy doesn't need a team, right? :p

Lol what? Nathan got a slight elbow against him and he decides to throw his bike into Mathews. He should’ve gotten a fine for this. If a sprinter does that in the last 300m he is disqualified

I mean, it's pretty unfair to compare results to 2019 when both teams are a lot different from 4 years ago. However, I am also expecting that Jumbo will gain around 30-70 seconds on UAE but I do think the UAE squad for the TTT is being underrated.

I wasn't comparing teams but just showing how big differences could be in this TTT: this TTT is 10km longer than the one in TA. (BTW, in 2019, even teams with very good TT'ers (Ineos) lost a lot.)

But UAE shouldn't be underestimated: Bjerg, Pogacar and Wellens all are good TT'ers.

Only Pogacar is an elite TTer on that team.

UAE lost 33s in 2/3rds of the distance in the Vuelta TTT.

Oh okay my bad. Yeah, the differences today should be bigger. Also gonna be interesting to see the tactics in the final km of the TTT with the new rule.

And yeah, UAE also has pretty much their strongest rouleurs in this squad so they shouldn't be underestimated.
