I feel that Van Poppel is wasting the last of his prime years (and maybe the better shape he ever had) being a lead-out when he is the best sprinter in the team.

How does it matter for Pogi? Tomorrow is a TTT. He'll be wearing the white jersey anyway, so no aero benefit of not wearing leader's jersey.

Messy and chaotic sprint as expected. Easy day, long straight roads, little bit downhill, really hard to get it right.

So Teddy is now 12 seconds ahead of Jonas. Even if JV finishes 20-30 seconds ahead tomorrow he can still win the race by bonuses alone (if they finish the mountain stages together).

Kooij has been very underwhelming so far this season... he's always up there or thereabouts, but he just doesn't have the speed. That was quite different last year.

Might be simply his training hasn't focused enough on his sprint until now in the season. Otherwise there shouldn't be reason for 21 year olds to magically lose spint speed.
