If De Lie doesn't lose 3 or 4 positions in the 2nd to last corner, he might've won, although his sprint also looked that fast cause he was sprinting out of the wind. Hard to say how it would've been in the wind.

Teddy couldn't help himself on those monstrous hills, could he? :p He gained 6 seconds over Vinge though. The latter wasn't willing to cooperate and give Teddy another bonus at the finish, how surprising!

Lovely work by Quickstep making the hyped Bora train do the work.

Quick Step dominated that finale, so the win was well deserved.

van Poppel again with a perfect leadout giving Bennett the perfect timing to go the shortest way to the line, but in the end he's lucky to get 2nd against out of position sprinters. 2nd place isn't bad but like in UAE he can't win even with perfect teamwork from his leadout. I would like to see Meeus getting chances with a proper leadout as he looked really strong in his sprints this year but without a leadout often came from a very unfavourable position.

Bennett at the Tour is at the moment not a sure thing in my opinion. But Merlier... he could be selected pver Jakobsen but let's for T-A. But the case is getting stronger if Jakobsen can't produce a win there against the weaker field. He maybe only got one shot at a real sprint, as the other stages will be probable more likely to go to a van Aert or Girmay.

Coming from behind, using the slipstream of guys going 70kmh gives a significant advantage. We've seen this dozens of times. Doesn't mean he would have won if he were up front instead.

Well at least when De Lie launched his sprint, he wasn't on anyone's slipstream, then he benefitted a bit from Pedresen as he got closer to the finish line.

You think you don't have drafting when you're sprinting a few meters behind 4 guys? De Lie's sprint definitely looked better cause he wasn't sprinting in the wind till the last 20m, you also don't see him coming closer once he hits the wind. You simply can't say if he would've won if he was in a good position.

I'm so used to all Belgians riders speaking Dutch, was surprising to hear De Lie speaking French.
In a tiny country, the size of a postage stamp it's always strange when you go from Flemish speaking to French part of the country.
I certainly can't, don't speak for all Americans, but the general ability to speak English by all is absolutely amazing!! People have given me directions and used words like " perhaps " and said things like " an alternative to your current route " on a country farm road in Belgium..blows me away thinking about it!! And for riders to get interviewed, just a few minutes after a multi hour hard pro race and answer questions in multiple languages, is ultra impressive to me..
