This arrogance might be understandable before the 2022 Tour, but after?

That's fair enough if they don't take a strong team to the Tour, but this is Paris Nice. Might as well give the stronger guys in the team chances elsewhere.

Jumbo are pretty much bringing B/C tier guys for them here too.

McNulty, Yates and Almeida all need their own chance in Tirreno? I guess it depends on how well Wellens is climbing, but Pogs PN team is very lightweight uphill.

Vingegaards team is heaps better on the flats and in the TTT, and it Pogacar will need his team to set a pace so he can drop people. Gonna be hard to drop Vingegaard when it's been easy or when there's still 20 guys left.

David Gaudu: "Demare? We have a healthy and stable relationship"

Based on the way it was described when the whole thing got public, then unless they had a serious talk in the meantime, I'm not sure I believe the "healthy" bit.
As for "stable"; well... mutual dislike is a sort-of stable...

Literally speaking, that would be a good thing. However, it's pretty obvious that you mean figuratively speaking.

Now the season really begins today at Paris-Nice. A race for riders who handle the cold well.

I noticed we have the „Big 5“ all at Tirreno next week:

WVA
MvdP
Pidcock
Girmay
Alaphilippe

Plus, Roglic will be there.

In Paris-Nice, we have Pogi and Vingegaard.

So this week, we‘ll have the „Big 5“ (see above) of explosiveness, plus the „Big 3“ of stage racing (Rog, Pog and Vinge), all racing: either Tirreno or Paris-Nice.

Very nice. I expect all these eight in great shape, already.

Certainly, I miss Bernal and Evenepoel.

For the „boring“ stages, we at least have super good fastmen in both races. In Paris-Nice, Kooij, de Lie, Demare, Sam Bennett, Kristoff, Matthews, Pedersen, Merlier. In Tirreno, Philippsen, Cav, Jakobsen, Groenewegen and Gaviria.

Wind forecast for the last 20 km (16:00 CET):

Mostly 8-10 km/h and not a very favourable direction. Reduced bunch sprint is overwhelmingly likely.

Grossschartner and Novak are good climbing doms tbf. Vingegaard basically just had Foss who's good uphill unless Dennis is on a good day. I'd say UAE has better strength uphill than Jumbo tbh.

When it comes to the flat and TTT, UAE really don't have anywhere close to the depth of talent Jumbo have in that regard.

UAE leaving Pogacar to largely rely on his own admittedly incredible strength, positioning and race sense on the flat will inevitably blow up in their faces sooner or later. It's just a question of whether it happens at the Tour or not.

That's because they only hire climbers to reinforce their squad. That's not how you build a stage race team. You saw it last year in the Tour as well, Pogi was pretty much on his own for the first week. If he had the same bad luck as Vingegaard in the cobbles stage, it would have been race over for him.

Laporte's absence is due to a small illness, nothing more complicated or interesting
I thought as much. Once again Kooij is left without a leadout.

Jumbo should hammer the lead in to the climbs to get positioning right there, and in that case the peloton could be reduced quite a bit.

Of course Vingegaard is still wearing a mask

He really excels at annoying me.

They are facing a headwind now, but they'll turn left with ~25 km to go and will then have crosswind and tailwind before the category 3 climb.
