I'm with RedRick on this one. It's a joke nowadays the extreme weather protocol.
As I said, this is what happens when everything revolves around them. The riders these days have been convinced they don't have any responsibility to the race. It will only get worse.

I think modern cycling is inherently more dangerous than cycling in the 80s. Because of the way they ride now, going so fast with bicycles designed like F1, and many other things that everyone know very well. So race organizers have to manage. They can't ignore. It's not just a matter of pseudo-morality or self protection, they are responsible.
Beside, the riders are putting pressure on the organizers because they are already taking enormous risks and they don't want to take more. Who can blame.
It's not a big deal to change the plan on very rare occasion.
And I am so happy to see Dorian winning this memorable stage 🥸🤩

No. When people complain about something while absolving themselves of any responsibility for said issue, and then raise the issue to get their way when the issue isn't even a problem but it's just for convenience, it's absolutely an issue.

It's like a pack-a-day smoker complaining about maybe there's trace amounts of radon gas in something which might cause lung cancer.

Lots of whingers in this thread. I travelled to Australia for the TDU, however, unfortunately the Willunga Hill stage cancelled the climb because of dangerous weather conditions. Of course this would have been the highlight of my trip, which was extremely disappointing, however there was s no point whinging. Try travelling to a far away country compared to watching from your sofa.

Surely this sprint posed a bigger threat of crashes than riding up the mountain that doesnt even have snow
Farce of a stage. One hour of racing...weak sauce. Your post is dead on, considering the crash that did happen.

i can and will blame the riders and organisers should ignore them

if they dont want to take more risk , they should ride more safely

its a huge deal to hold races hostage to riders [content deleted]
Comparison is not reason.
assertion ditto
