Interesting interview, normally he's more shy with his goals. But this time it really sounds like a goal to win this race.
I am wondering if Etixx will preprare the team for PN with enough domestiques for him?

He's going for the overall win!![]()
grizzlee said:I could be wrong here but honestly I don't think he has a chance in hell of even making the podium never mind winning it outright.
Bavarianrider said:Depends on his mountain shape, obiously.
If he shows up with his climbing legs of 12-13 he'll have no chance of course.
However, if he shows up with the climbing legs of last year's Tour de Suisse and Tour de France, he'll have a shot for sure.

If he is in shape like at the TDS 2014, he will have a chance. With a real team, he would have won TDS 2014.
OlavEH said:Is there particular reason why they don't use Mont Faron? Hasn't been used in PN since 2005. Too bad IMO. Really liked that climb.
Dr. Juice said:It could the " Planche des belles filles" of Paris Nice. Very similar those climbs. I don't like Col d' Eze it's too soft and a MTT should never be on the last day but before the big key stages.
Where will he take time on guys like Porte or Talansky?Bavarianrider said:Depends on his mountain shape, obiously.

A technical, hilly prologue... yeah, maybe, but not much. The Tour de Suisse is not really an indication of his climbing prowess, unless Tom Dumoulin is suddenly a climber.Netserk said:Day 1?

Bavarianrider said:How do you know it is technically and hilly?
The pace will be set right from the start in Maurepas in Yvelines, with a prologue of nearly 7 kilometres over hilly terrain.
OlavEH said:I like shorter and steeper climbs in PN and TA. Better with Mende or Mont Faron than Montagne de Lure. Same with TA. I think a climb like Terminillo is too long. Better with shorter climbs of 2-3-4 km and a gradient of at least 9-10 %.
In PN a good stage design IMO would be either Mende or Mont Faron or a similar stage with a steep hilly finish. The last day could be a hilly stage in the mountains surrounding Nice and with a descent finish. But the last climb has to be close to the stage finish and the descent have to be a bit tricky.
