Awesome stuff! I get to see the stages on youtube clips once I get from work so I have no idea how the breakaway started, but very impressive by De Gendt and Voeckler winning is always fun.
It was an early breakaway, started at 6km

De Gendt going for top 10 on GC:D can he crack it, or will he fail?

i predict a total shock for tomorrow.he won't be dropped from the favourites group.everybody(including riders) says that de gendt is right now kind of a monster so let's just wait and see.

also chapeau to voeckler for the right attitude!

Right on with both those calls. Nice job De Gendt grabbing all those bonuses all along the way through to the finish.

If any shakeup tomorrow I'd expect it on the Mure... the other Cat1 Chaubouret is too early in the stage.

I see Sagan didn't learn any lesson from yesterday's stunt!
Second in the bunch sprint.

Geeze... he rolled a tub yesteday, hardly his fault. He's bound to get a win one of these stages (tomorrow doesn't look too bad for him) if he hasn't been too badly affected by crashes in the Classica Sarda earlier this week and yesterday.

Back to today's stage, did anyone else think that that was one of the most boring sprints at the end of a breakaway? They looked more like teamates on a pursuit team dragging to the line rather than riders sprinting it out for the win... I guess De Gendt just wanted to make sure he got a big enough gap to get yellow and no one else could touch Voeckler in the sprint.

9 Volta ao Algarve, Stage 5 : Lagoa - Portimao I.T.T.

Looks pretty decent to me. He only lost 9 seconds to LuLu in that one.

Not bad, but he did lose 39 seconds to Martin, which could be a big deal if the peleton keeps racing the rest of PN the way they've soft pedaled the last couple stages.

Tommy de Gendt facts:

#1 In the 2009 Tour of Britain (7 stages), he was on the attack for a total of 600km
#2 When asked in an interview why he likes attacking, his response was "I like to give the other riders pain".
