What was he doing last year in this TT?? He finished almost 2 minutes down on Wiggins.

Last year he spent the week helping Wiggins and was over 20 minutes down on the GC. He really didn't have anything to race for.

Nope but Richie showed he has the form + he can climb and TT. 3 Things Gilbert cant do/doesnt have.

How many time trials has he won? Phil has shown no form? ;)

But anyway my point is clear, just because it's his training mountain doesn't mean he'll win. Do you know how many professional cyclists live in Monaco and ride the col d'Eze every week?

Probably less than 20% of the riders in a stage race ride the TTs 100% seriously. These are the ones either going for the TT win or for GC placements.

Check out the 2012 Algarve TT results to see what Richie Porte is capable of when he takes a TT seriously

Interesting to see that Talansky went from awesome to will not make even the top 5.....

He is a good TT rider. Even if I think that he will not win PN he will do a podium in the TT today.
Curious what the much hyped (in this forum anyway) Quintana will do today. I think a top 10 in the TT and that's it.

I just said I think he will win, with the reasons that he seems to have the form, he can TT, he can climb + he knows the climb really well. So thats why i THINK he will win today.

Well the obvious contenders seem to be Westra, Peraud, since they performed very well on this TT last year. Porte, Teejay because they are good TTers who can climb well and seem to have decent shape. Talansky did an awesome MTT in Romandie I think last year, so considering his shape now, it's weird he isn't getting mentioned as a favourite for the TT. Chavanel, being a great TTer and climbing pretty good this PN should be up there as well.

I'm still rooting for Westra though. :D

Yeah, I understand your reasons of him being in form and having an ok time trial in him, but the training mountain part was the only reason you mentioned and like I said, many cyclists train on the Col d'Eze. ;)
