Bit of a betting move for Luis Leon Sanchez ...

Been a disappointing race for him but I suspect he gave away time on purpose yesterday to get some more leeeway today.

Given the conditions, I think a lot of riders will opt to stay in bed, or climb off at the earliest opportunity.
Wouldn't be surprised to see < 50 riders complete the race.

Not a day for lightweights certainly.

Whisper it quietly or everyone will jump even more on the bandwagon of insisting they want his babies, but Vino is in the break.

I'd put money on Vino for the stage.

That last 12km descent is going to be crazy. Should be an exciting stage!

It's the done thing at P-N.
They will drop like flies today.
68kms left, so we should have about 55kms live.

10 in the break:

David Lopez-Garcia (Movistar), Alexandre Vinokourov (Astana), Matteo Carrara (Vancasoleil), Laurent Didier (Saxo Bank), Julien El Fares (Cofidis), Gorka Izagirre (Euskaltel), Diego Ulissi (Lampre), Remi Pauriol (FDJ), Thomas Voeckler (Europcar) and Linus Gerdemann (Leopard-Trek).

Vino to shed all but Carrara and Izagirre/Garcia by the last climb

This stage is perfect for Samuel Sanchez, so the chances are good that he will manage to get another second place :p

Break won't last that long - Carrara is far too close to the GC.

Today, 5 non-starters:

Juan-Manuel Garate (Rabobank), Jurgen Van den Broeck (Omega Pharma Lotto), Robert Kiserlovski (Astana), Amael Moinard (BMC), Grega Bole (Lampre)

Withdrawls so far (11):
Oscar Pujol (OLO), Jos Van Emden (Rabobank), Tjallingii (Rabobank), Lloyd (Garmin-Cervelo), Ramussen (HTC-Highroad), VanSummeren (Garmin-Cervelo), Gaudin and Quemeneur (Europcar), Jeremy Hunt (Team Sky), Lieuwe Westra (Vancasoliel), Pierre Rolland (Europcar).

So 124 riders still left

thanks, guys!

i think it's because i usually don't get to follow P-N so closely that the drop-outs seem excessive to me... my bad.

doing a happy dance, though, as i'll get it on France 3 shortly (my Dutch sucks).

allez Vino!!!
