BBC commentator said that, unless they had moved early enough to be well out of their way to the right, they should stay as tight into the kerb on the left as they could. Uncertainty about what side to pass them on is more problematic than passing them, apparently. Why are lapped runners not obliged to move to the side?
Most of what I’ve heard is the track shoes aren’t as big of game changers as the road shoes or any major recent developments, but I don’t follow it that closely. The “fast track” theory should be easier to validate after more events, especially shorter ones where pacing is more consistently maxed out.13 runners under the old OR and all the NRs and PBs. That isn't just some spectacular one off result. Track might be fast, but is there also some new shoe technology that I haven't heard of?
Thanks. I think some of the lapped runners were in the second lane though.BBC commentator said that, unless they had moved early enough to be well out of their way to the right, they should stay as tight into the kerb on the left as they could. Yeah: those were not the ones she was commending, and their conduct is probably what prompted the later comment.Thanks. I think some of the lapped runners were in the second lane though.
