I felt a bit sorry for the Somalian shot putter who only reached 4 metres, but his PB is apparently only 5.97, so it wasn't as horrible as I feared.

I think throwing in shot put is not allowed!!! But I also think the grass starts immediately after the shot putting ring.

We didn't get to see it, which is a shame since he's the only Somalian athlete at the games. According to his Paralympic bio, he trains 10 hours a week, but I don't know how that compares to his opponents.

As the resident shot put expert, I would like to mention that it is indeed not allowed to throw anything in shot putting.

It would be interesting to have a mixed relay at the Olympics with a normal runner, a hurdler and a steeplechaser running 100m each on a track set up for them, and then have a long, triple or high jumper or pole vaulter jump 100m on the last leg.

My idea was, that they would get as many jump as needed to accumulate a distance of 100m.

I was lost for words watching that.

Elena Congost, the 3rd place finisher in the women's marathon, was disqualified for helping her guide over the finish line. Apparently the elastic connection between the athlete and guide was lost for a few seconds.

Ricardo Ten has now won 11 Paralympic medals in his career. I don't know whether he's planning on changing his surname to reflect that achievement.
