Back at the athletics!
Question:
In wheelchair racing, can we talk about a "peloton"?
The commentator in the men's 5000m race actually used the word peloton at one point. There was also a crash in the final sprint for good measure. Someone going for a nonexistent gap at the barriers. Thankfully it didn't affect the medal positions.

So, she set a world record, injuring herself in the process, and then got DQed?
Yikes!
Disqualified because her head cushion was the wrong size. Seems a bit harsh.

Okay, I would really like to have seen the closeup of De Jong's first "take-off"...
I saw women's long jump yesterday morning but missed the men's. Kind of curious that Netherlands won 2 long jump golds in one day with Jong and De Jong.

Otoh, significantly worse to crash in a race when you're a wheelchair user.
You're basically just stuck until someone comes over an helps you...

Roderick Townsend, who seems to have all of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce's different hair colours, wins gold in the high jump and gets to retain his belt.

Not exactly non-cycling but as blind tandem pilot, Robert Förstemann has only won bronze in team sprint despite his still massive legs.

Not sure "blind tandem pilot" is the correct term. That makes it sound like a tandem pilot who's also blind, and I'm not sure that's a good idea...

The Danish expert-commentator wants to be absolutely sure we understand that the reason the participants in the sitting throw disciplines get all their tries at once is because it takes too long to set up the chair. I think he's mentioned it every evening so far.

Fun fact: The school where I had my - very short - career as a shot putter also have students who are in wheelchairs. However, I don't think they have a throwing chair.

There's hammers involved in cycling (which is a part of the triathlon). I hope you're not accusing Cille of lying.

Maybe she keeps suggesting they put the hammer down because it's really weird to carry a hammer around in cycling.

I sure hope they weren't throwing any chairs.

I don't think I've heard her say it in a while, so perhaps people have finally started listening.

I'm talking about the chair the athlete is sitting in while throwing...
Maybe they had one at my old school, but the only wheelchair user who attended while I went there didn't take atletics as a subject.

I was hoping to get a Partin Party, but having two human legs was only an advantage in the first 50 metres.

Pretty crazy long jump final with three guys all having jumped 6.76m, a Paralympic record, ahead of the last round, but the non-Russian guy then reached 6.83 and took the gold.

That sprint from the Mauritian guy is one of the craziest I've ever seen. It was like he suddenly turned on an engine.
