He's never going to match Van der Poel in terms of cornering, though. So he outright needs to have more sheer watts given that tactics are dead.
No but he can get better. This was a silly error, which he's prone to making, but experience will close the gap significantly. Besides, MvdP will fade before Pogacar in terms of time.

Kinda shame that all his opponents crashed or had mechanical as well, no?
Can't wait for you to note this a few times in the next few days.
Just me pointing out I was right, that’s all. I won’t point it out too much anymore, maybe once after the race in the MVDP thread.

UAE only had 2.5 guys really in the race from the start, next year they should consider bringing along top-2025 positioner Joao Almeida as a 3rd leader option

Pogacar will obviously win this one day, there's no doubt. It was just a very tall order to do it first time against a MvdP who knows this race way better. The difference told before we even got to the most technical sector. Give it two more attempts and he'll win.
Everyone in 2011; “Sagan will definitely win MSR in his career.”

Roubaix just has too much unpredictability to say that for certain. Look at Wout. Nobody would have bet that he would be without a win here by now.
