When Valverde does this people want his head on a platter

I think there's a vast difference between one of best riders of generation and a rider that's usually a domestique

Thank you, that is precisely my point. People don't judge tactics by the actual tactics, they judge tactics by their pre-held feelings on each rider.

Wallays seemed to have done his part - besides, this was a 200 km break, so I'd say comparing this to a wheelsuckers victory is pretty stupid. He was smart enough to let Voeckler take the front and was cool enough not to panic when they slowed down. Well played, and good for him and his team.

I'm glad they've made it. The chase group (apart from Sinkeldam and Teuns) was a disgrace.

Great racing in the last 20 km, I love that race. :)

Nope, just making a point :)

Sitting on without working are the tactics of a small rider. Valverde is not a small rider.

In any case being in the break for 200km and working up until the final km when the break is sure to stay away means that the comparison is irrelevant

Great finale. Clearly guys like Degenkolb and Van Avermaet were riding on their last legs. And those wet roads (and crashes) sure didn't help the chase either.

Except that Valverde does this for 2nd place

Voeckler under pressure to get a win played perfectly into the hands of Wallays who took the biggest win of his career. Congrats.

Such leadership in the chase group, lol.

Enjoyed this race, nice way to finish the European season this year.

Still a few races left. What, you're not holding your breath for Romagna and that Belgian race I'm not going to bother trying to type out? :p
