Good race, I dont understand the giant tactics today, good attack by sep, he is always the stronger or one of them, but he never wins a great classic, i hope that next year will be different.

No, Breschels crash was earlier. But I agree his crashes are not because he's some Farrarschleck type, the mattress incident was on the way to the hotel for instance.

Nice to see Voeckler doing well again and very nice for Wallays. I missed the race, but it looks like it was okay.

Hopefully tongue man can go into the winter well with some good motivation and be back to his old level next year.

You are right, I figured that. I just saw a Tinkoff rider involved in the moto crash and later assumed that it must have been him since he was missing. Guess I was wrong.

Still quite ridiculous to say that he is at fault for crashing, he isn't a bad bike handler at all.

I'm not saying that he's necessarily at fault for his crashes, it could be that he's just careless or always sitting in a risky position or whatever. It's unlikely that he's simply unlucky.

Skipping the podium, even if legitimately disappointed is bad sport and getting the money prize is punishment enough.

Man haters drive me crazy. A guy like Voeckler, with all his showboating and moaning and whining and grimacing, but also his audacity, tactical acumen and offensive spirit is/was such a great rider to have in the peloton. Man we are going to miss him when he is gone, I can tell you. Without him last year's Lombardia would have been the most boring race in the world, this year he sheperded the breakaway perfectly, cut the dead branches at the right time, etc... but he got beat by stronger and fresher legs, by a young rider who didn't get impressed by his shenanigans and just stumped, him, age 25 against 35. Nice story for a passing of the torch between generations.

And for some beyond stupid reasons some guys need to keep on hating ? Gee.

When I see how stupidly guys like Offredo ride, pedaling like a madman without looking if his leader is right behing him, how little tactical instinct a guy like Demare shows, well I cry at night thinking that soon enough Voeckler will be gone and we'll be left with decerebrate riders, incapable of thinking by themselves, having a look around and making their own decisions.

No really I wish we could have 2 Voecklers for every country that has professional riders, would make cycling so much more fun to watch. All I can wish the guy is a nice victory next year as a goodby presie. Cheers

But how often does he crash out of contention? I remember one crash in the Vuelta with Rabobank that kept him out of races for the rest of the year. In his first year as a pro Robbie McEwen blocked him in a sprint in a super ugly move and Breschel crashed hard and was hospitalised. That wasn't his fault. The mattress one as explained was a freak incident. That wasn't his fault either. What others?

His problems in 2010 was because of a knee injury that started after Paris-Roubaix. He got back to an okay level for the World's and got second but the injury continued to be a problem in the spring races the following year.

I have to agree with you. People hate on guys like Voeckler and Voigt but it's great to have riders like that in the peloton. They may sometimes be a tad annoying but they animate races and create some spectacle. They're not afraid to take a chance and go for it 100% in all kinds of scenarios, something we don't always see from riders of their strength.
