Paul Seixas: Tour de France Winner 2031

Would like to see him do the giro next year. (Anyone know how he is in cold weather?)
What's really impressed me by him is he seems like the complete package unlike the french gc prospects of the last 20 years. Climbing, tt, punch, endurance he has everything.
Anyone know of the plan is for him to do classics season next year or focus more on stage racing?

I think they will put him stage races like Volta Catalunya, Tour of Romandie etc. if he performs really well like a top 5 or better. They might put him on Giro or Vuelta.

This is basically what happened with Ayuso in 2022, and what happened with Pogacar in 2019.

Thing is if his progression is steady and solid there are good chances he can win one of them in front of some big names. And I fear that they get crazy after that and they put him on the Tour

He was on French TV tonight. He said he will ride a grand tour next year, but they still have to choose which one. He said that all options are open on this matter.

I don't know the progression of Juan Ayuso but everything Seixas does on the bike is right, he rides like an old soul. All the things that other people have forgotten with radios, massive support from trade teams, including deep talented teammates..
Paul just races.
I would worry that some person like me, hysterical over his high hopes, would push too early to test him at TDF or something too much too soon. He needs guidance from someone who has a @10-12+ year career trajectory..

In the video i posted he was talking about battling Pogacar when he was still in his prime. So maybe he doesn't want to go to UAE.

No to UAE, yes to spring classics campaign, including Ardennes + a couple one-week stage races + Vuelta. (My votes). Giro would be OK, too. I don't think he should go to the Tour.

I think they never will. There are so many reasons for him to refuse it -- political consciousness, pride, avoiding permanent doping accusations, Isaac del Toro... I even think he could stay for a while at Decathlon.

To be honest with the way he progressed during the season, I won't be surprised if he is on Del Toro's level, or close, by next season.
Hopefully he doesn't hit his limits too early.

I think he will be better than Del Toro in a few aspects next season already. Wouldn't be surprised if his results in monuments (IL/LBL) are going to be better, ITT's in stage races, maybe even long HC climbs... But he will not win races as easily as Del Toro, who is a lot punchier and who will definitely pick up more boniseconds.

Paul Seixas could win the Tour a lot sooner than 2031. He is an incredible talent.

Interesting. Most posters feel he will win the Tour before 2031, but here we have a shout out for 2033.
He will be 24 years-old when the 2031 Tour starts and Pogi and Remco will be past their best, but there will be other young challengers, in fact the race may well be won by somebody that here in 2025 we have never heard of.

Already, it feels as if Seixas is being pushed too much.
Tackling the monstrous World Championship road race a few days after turning 19 years-old and then the mighty Il Lombardia a couple of weeks later?
Plus, throw in 3rd place at the Euro road race.
Pogi turned 21 years-old while tackling his first GT (2019 Vuelta).
A similar timetable would see Seixas' GT debut being the 2027 Vuelta, (yes, that's how young he is).
Do not burn this young talent out.

Seixas racing program should be well-spaced. Perhaps, he should race sparingly and avoid those "massed-sprint" races just to avoid serious crashes. Most young talents (Remco's generation or younger) who recovered from broken collarbones or other injuries due to crashes, somehow, are now racing conservatively with safety in mind.

If Pog's twin were 19 right now, when would Pog's twin beat Pog? In 4 years, 5 years? Maybe sooner bc Pog sounds like he's gonna get tired of winning and retire early.

We're really in uncharted territory here trying to predict when Pog slows down given that we don't have other goats to go on, only humans.

I just hope that Pog's successor as tdf champ beats him head to head in an epic battle, whatever year that may be, rather than seeing Pog retire undefeated (after 2023). Not a hater but passing of the torch will be fun to watch.

Why not a nice stage race in February? In this scenario I would think he does altitude after Tirreno

He struggled one day in the Dauphiné, a lot of days with that effort. .
I think it's too early to say he'll be on the podium next year in a Giro. It's possible, but he's never ridden a three-week race, and it's not that easy, especially in the Giro because of the weather and tough stages.

The day he lost time in the Dauphine was due to crashing uphill early on the final climb and having to chase.

He got so strong in the final month of the season that I think he will be very significantly better by the time the spring stage races roll by.

Seixas just rode a reverse Mont Blanc sportif, 320km and 12 hours, for fun. I don't think Seixas has any issues with distances of 200km+

I don't think any top climber (even those thought to be weaker in long races like Roglic) would have problems to complete this race in a similar time. This is hardly comparable to WT racing as the level and competition there is not the same as during monuments (where just a 3 minute loss is enough to be perceived as a weaker endurance rider).

Generally this ride is very impressive but what Seixas did (as a 19 yo) in top WT races this year is more impressive than that. I have no doubts that any good WT climber could ride for hundreds of kilometers on difficult terrain: they have the base so it's mostly a matter of lower speed, feeding and mental preparation.
