First big win for Paul Seixas, Itzulia's GC.

Even though today's attack was a bit too optimistic he led the race from start to finish, won three stages and dominated some solid GC riders.

Amazing season so far for Seixas, now onto the Ardennes!

He is only 19. I agree with Extinction. Maybe he suffered in today's heat but I would not read too much into anything we saw in terms of what his potential is.
And he won the stage and put another minute into 3rd place; negating Roglic as a long threat for today. Roglic's riding for training and supporting Lipo as best as he can. Lipo does lack some tactical skills at this point and Seixas has benefitted from that. Including Pogacar as a potential victim of Paul's current race form is pointless. What happens in July will be what many are preparing for. Guys riding well at UAE tour and other start-of-season races get their UCI points but early peaks don't mean race wins 3 months later.

the team was great for 5 stages. today they felt the effort. 2028 is still far
Meeh it was Seixas himself carrying the team mostly not the other riders. Riccitello was hardly any use to Seixas the entire race. Bisiaux burned out quite fast, but lets call him reasonable. Prodhomme was reasonable as well.

If they want to give him a team that is not a weakness in the Tour they will have to up the bar a lot in my opinion. And with so much money spend on Kooij and his train that could become problametic.

Seixas, if he rides the Tour, just has to follow the other teams, like Pog did in 2020. in 2027, and after, decathlon will have time to build a team

This year agreed. Next year might be different, and you can also get attacked for third place at some point by teams like Red Bull.

With a more competent DS and better riders he could have literally won all 6 stages.
What I hope for Seixas is the French fan base allows him to grow, have ups and downs without projecting premature demands on him. Historically they are greatly supportive of their national heroes but in today's Fan World that support can turn on a dime. I sound like a broken record when I repeat: "let the young guys' grow. Don't write them off at the first sign of fatigue or weakness." Mostly on this forum; no one has done that.
