Yes, so for the same reason as the news of "OMG!!!!COLLAPSE!!!111", I'll wait and see.

Have you made cheerleading chants for your favourite team? ...I didn't think so!Tuarts said:Tuart is to Pegasus as to what acf is to BMC.
Well I guess its like that but without the over-zealousness and tbh, I'd take an interest in all pro Aussie teams. I follow/ed Drapac, Jayco-Skins and FlyV over the past year (and intermittently before then). I've brought 2/3 of their jerseys too, doing my bit to fund and promote the teams.![]()

This sounds so similar to other, past failures.
TeamSkyFans said:I think the UCI might actually turn them down. This bank guarantee thing, dropping riders wages to make the guarantee easier to pay is very dodgy. Whats to stop future teams who cant afford the bank guarantee just dropping the riders wages temporarily so they can pay it.
Well, the issue is it's dodgy as hell. Attract better riders than you can afford, then force them to choose between lowering their wages or being unemployed next year.Andy99 said:Surely, provided the wage isn't below the UCI minimum, there should be no issue?
I personally have zero confidence that the team will have success. I do however hope that they pull it off. somehow.

i don't think , why give them 4 more days and than turn them down , they could do it directTeamSkyFans said:I think the UCI might actually turn them down. Sydney21 said:That is in no way fair. Pegasus had no reason to think that they couldnt afford the wages. Sure White should have had a signiture first but he wasn't deliberatelt scamming them as you make out.
Furthermore, you do not know the circumstances in which the pay cuts have been made. Robbie McEwen would be recieving a heafty pay check one that is likely well above what he is now worth as a rider as he would secure the team a number of wild card entries. He could have offered or agreed to take a pay cut. We just don't know at this stage and riders taking pay cuts to ensure that their workmates and themselves actually have a job next season seems like a healthy and humain gesture rather than anything dodgy. If this is the case and the team does manage to secure its full budget in the future then those who agreed to cuts are more than entitled to take them.
Yes this practice could be manipulated in other teams but im sure the UCI can see in this case that it is a desperate measure but a viable one.
My fingers and toes are crossed for a Pro-conti some time in the next few days
they can only go if the team failed a PCT - licencemd2020 said:Even if the funding and licensing are real, what are the odds that a few of the riders haven't already made arrangements with other teams? Pegasus had a very good reason to think they couldn't afford the wages: the fact they hadn't secured the sponsorship to cover the required budget.Sydney21 said:That is in no way fair. I have to say this whole situation is an embarrassment to Australian cycling fans everywhere.![]()

Libertine Seguros said:However, a team that can't afford the UCI guarantee and essentially forcing riders to take a paycut or join the unemployment line, albeit temporarily, is a dangerous precedent to set.
fatandfast said:Lots of small teams will interest a star like Robbie with unshared start and prize money. Let them use the team colors to cross promote themselves. With the team make up McEwen could come to the US for a super short trip. He is a very popular rider in the US. If people see him in action with his brother he is a public relations dream..I wish him luck. Matt White does not have a bad wrap in the US so getting a sub sponsor may be easier..Australia is a growing market for everybody maybe CAT or some other huge mining machine company will step up. In the US, companies that really screw up the envoirnment love to give cash for outdoor athletics and fund raisers as part of shedding guilt. There has to be some poluting giant in Australia that needs an image boost.

it sounds like Michael Ball of **** RacingTeamSkyFans said:This is my point. Very dangerous area to be treading in. I imagine if they do get their license the UCI will be keeping a very close eye on them.
Makes you wonder what the agreement is with those riders, theyve taken a cut and CW's statement says "if and when we get the original budget", so the riders may get what they signed for, they may be on the lower wage all year. Maybe the deal for the riders has been sweetened with incentives above their base salary, keep your bikes at the end of the year, higher percentage of win $$$ etc
I hope they get it, but I have a bad feeling about all of this, and that at some point, maybe in january, may, next autumn, or at some point this is going to go very tits up.
