I doubt they will do any races in europe at all but justg like 2010 do racing in america. besides as a ct team they can have no more than 16 riders
there are only 19 at this moment so 3 have to leave , and i heard they will do their races in Europe

I don't know, I feel they will have to do most of their racing in the American continent.
Do you know where the team will be registered?

Don't know where they will be registered but if they are still serious about the future they should aim at riding in Europe rather than the US. There are lots of 2.2 races they could do very well in and also get invites to low profile 2.1 races too.

So maybe their project isn't quite dead yet, if they aim for the long term, be based in Europe, start a slower build-up and aim for proteam in 2-3 years.
But honestly I think that Australian cycling was doing just fine without the idea of a super national team. Or maybe it was the top Australian cyclists the ones to blame, who didn't quite believe in Chris White's project.

Or perhaps they just knew more behind the scene stuff about CW which made them not take the chance. From what some people have posted there seems to be things to be wary about with regards to CW so not taking a chance with him was probably a wise desicion.

FlyV is still operating and will be based on the American circuit. So unless Pegasus is going to saturate that area with 2 teams, they'll look at riding mainly in Europe.

Can people remember how CW said that if they didn't get PT statud they'd automatically get ProConti?

From the UCI:

As the Licence Commission refused their licence requests, the Geox-TMC (ESP) and Cofidis Le Crédit en ligne (FRA) teams will be automatically registered as UCI Professional Continental Teams.

Pretty sure that'd be what he was talking about...

Well, that obviously still requires that the team fulfills the criteria for the pro conti level as well. If I were to get some friends together and buy some bikes and send in an application for the PT with a team of 5 riders with a budget of 5000$ we would definately get rejected for a PT license but that does not mean we automatically get a pro conti license with the same team just because we got rejected for the PT.

AUSTRALIA'S latest bid for a team at the Tour de France will be known as Green Edge Cycling and is expected to be headed by leading coach and administrator Shayne Bannan.

The much-rumoured project will be officially launched on January 17 in Adelaide, a day before the start of the Tour Down Under.

Bannan will be at the helm after resigning on December 30 from his long-term roles as Cycling Australia's national performance director and head cycling coach at the Australian Institute of Sport.

That resignation heightened speculation about a new bid to achieve Australian cycling's Holy Grail - a top-level team from this country competing in the world's top road races, especially the Tour de France.

Successful businessman and long-time cycling supporter Gerry Ryan has close ties with Bannan. Ryan's caravan company Jayco became the main sponsor of the national development program two years ago in the lead-up to the London Olympics. But it is understood Jayco will not be the title sponsor of Green Edge.

Anyone got an idea on who will ride for Pegasus at continental level and who is returning to Fly V in North America?

I saw Aaron Kemps riding in the Bundy area the other day in Fly V colours so.

I wonder what Bannan's last act as Director was...
From what I have read over the last few weeks, there was a Cycling Australia project before Chris White started talking about Pegasus. Seems like CA merely decided to not get involved with him rather than torpedoing his idea. I don't remember hearing about them speaking negatively about his plans. Besides, they are probably in the best position to know if he is really "fit for purpose" and that probably coloured their judgement.

Wow indeed. I am amazed that an energy drinks company that "gives you wings" would take one look at cycling and decide that attaching its name to a team is a prudent move for a brand that is mostly the image it has carefully created. No wonder it got very cold feet when the Contador news broke. But I am surprised they got as far with them as they did.

This might be the alcohol talking, but do the riders have any legsal recourse against Chris White, I mean he promised them a contract on the basis that would at least be pro-continental, and now they don't have continental status, so now they will be without employment for 2011, or if they get a contract, it will be so low, they may as well not bother riding as a professional.

Shiiiiiiit

Red Bull...that would've been BIG. Thanks Contador/UCI/CycAus

I wonder now what's going to happen to those riders. Only 8 spots on FlyV...plus age restrictions means some riders are going miss out. :(
