Dazed and Confused said:GC, not quite the first time.
First one with "serious" mountains however.
Ferminal said:The 5km @ 9% on the queen stage (or whatever it is) is still his territory imo. Need 30min+ efforts to dislodge him.
Netserk said:The ITT will cost him a podium placing.
Bushman said:He rode well in the Tour ITT.
zigmeister said:Well if you design and stack the ITT in favor of the local American riders and make it an uphill ITT, of course he won't do well. Make it flat, he will kill it.
Race organizers are a huge factor of the outcome of the race for overall winner.

the asian said:Sagan only or both Sagan and Moser?
Arredondo said:No, Sagan only. I was just thinking the worst-case scenario
Dazed and Confused said:Well, it doesn't matter much if Sagan leaves imo. Moser simply isn't good enough at this point. Looks like they have to quickly get a better foundation. Will it affect how some of the classics are planned?
Ruudz0r said:They did get very good youth riders this year. Villella can be competitive pretty soon, Bettiol, Formolo and Mohoric might need some more time but they are all very talented.
Then they still have Moser w ho can hopefully step up again this year, Basso, Viviani, Marcato, Gatto, Caruso, Ratto so they will still have a pretty good squad without Sagan.
They should also sign Federico Zurlo who has the same charistics as Sagan (he will not be that good but same type of rider and he is VERY talented), and I think he will be competitive between the pro's pretty soon.
Dazed and Confused said:I think this requires some re-jigging of the classic plans for this year. The team just can't afford to focus so much on Sagan with the way UCI WT license ranking system works at the moment.
And Basso needs to get on the podium at the Giro for sure.
Ruudz0r said:This year it was hard to fill the WT spots so there isnt to much competition. Next year there will be Team Alonso who wants to join the WT, but maybe EUropcar wants to step down again (or another sponsor stops).
With the salary of Sagan falling away they can also sign a very good new rider (as long as Cannondale keeps giving the same amount of money).
