Ofcourse it was his big fat ego that cost him the race, the logical thing to do was to get on Chavanel's wheel if he felt that Chavanel was going for the sprint but he must have thought that would have been far too easy instead going for a long one and then making a stupid gesture/celebration would have been the perfect icing on the cake.

I'm happy that Sagan didn't win because he starts accreting with young fans, and if he had win, it could have been a repeat of situation of Alberto Contador, when a rider wins with a huge margin one time and since this moment it starts to be interpreted as the only real norm of life for many, whereupon many proper discussions are killed in the bud.

I thought everyone would agree that he can be an arrogant little brat at times. For example his whining about his teammates and Ferrari winning a stage in Il Giro and him getting a Pro tour contract. The list is long.
