Big year for Sagan. I would like him to win a monument. He needs to though as i said last year maybe we have seen the best Sagan who knows, yes he is young but his sprinting has declined so much, which would usually mean improvement in other areas. Idon't see it though, he choke's quite alot in the finale, Coilek in MSR was an epic failure. TDF aswell letting Impey or was it Gerrans beat him on a relatively flat stage?

TS fan here. Sagan has to do something this season. Dude is getting huge $. And has a top notch team/directors/coaching/bikes:D. And Kiwa winning th WC should put a fire under Peter. I'm looking for him to come out hitting in Strade.

If he really is the new EBH I, for one, will be crushed.

He looked ill today, even when he got into that short break with 55km to go he was really white and breathing heavily. May have just been a bad day.

Hopefully he will bounce back, but it's hard to see him doing anything in MSR or Flanders on this form.

Stick a fork in him, he's done. Tinkov should react immediately and demote him to domestique in the Tour, as opposed to allowing him to challenge for the green.

I don't agree that he's finished, but this could actually help him in a way. He's too visible at the moment - always on the attack or reacting to moves. A spell where he goes under the radar and just sits in the group for a bit could do him some good. He's trying to force races too much by himself at the moment - he should take a few more risks that others will bring the race back together (a bit like Gerrans done) and save more for his sprint.

Considering his goal this season is winning Monument(s) and that the first is in two weeks time, I think that one of the cobbled is what he's targeting.
Looks like he's a bit behind his major rivals, at the moment. Although he might have dropped today due to some kind of a crisis.

I think he needs to get just one win before the monument. He needs it, so he can keep the momentum and get himself going. He came excruciating few times to win just a stage. So far he hasn't got any win yet, that must be a little annoying for him. He has been in drought for almost what? 6+ months? I hope he bounced back after today. I hope he can at least win one stage in TA. A win for morale boaster and confidence.

The problem is that he doesn't have much of a sprint any more. He seems to have sacrificed a bit of the top end speed he had 2-3 years ago, to try to improve his endurance and to gain more of an engine. Now he has a slightly better engine, but still not enough to win a big classic, and he's not fast enough to win sprints against the out and out specialists.

He's too eager. He needs to be more tranquil. He also seems to have lost power.

Maybe he bonked today, there was a long time where his group didn't have the cars with them.

I don't think he was very smart today. He was the one who forced the selection on sector 7 leaving three teammates in the group behind him. It's hard for a better team than he has had before to help him when he isolates himself.

Even longer. Since the national championship.
And it, actually, hasn't been a race victory, just the title.

His sprints in the flat stages of Tour of Quatar were not bad though. Once narrowly missed the win against Kristoff who is already in great form.

Like someone said..we need to wait until after Tirreno / MSR.

I also think that he just bonked, he was one of the strongest guys on the longest sterrato section.

Sagan is finished.

I think he just needs some guidance and coaching. Surely he could have done better today if he had measured his efforts earlier in the race. Someone else here already pointed out that he didn't use his team as well as he could have. Yes he could use some more training in specific areas (his sprint isn't like it used to be), but I also think he just needs to wise up at times.

well, today, sagan in one second looked fresh and destroyed everybody but stybar and piti, few minutes later, direct look at him and I knew he's done, same face as in the last years PR, where I knew 20km that's it for him.
Now the possible reason. He clearly has been very self confident about his strength, if he wasn't feeling well he would tried to keep it together until the finale. The attack was not "attack of desperation" as in PR last year.
I hope that he just hadn't either water or some nutrition with him as some were proposing.
What i am afraid of, that the reason is a little bit elsewhere. In slovak media there was mentioning, that sagan has been riding in Oman on anthibiotics, which might have been a very bad idea in those temperatures. Illnes and anthibiotics can be very tricky for human body in normal condition, the more it's stressfull for heart and other organs in 40 degree celsius and actually racing. I am really afraid, that monstrous damage might have been done there and it come to light today. If so, this season lost would be quite success, cause his entire career might be in danger.
