Its funny how some members (especially haters) would even entertain the idea that Sagan is not going to the Tour for any other reason than injury/illness.

... its should be an awesome battle between Johnny and Peter for the green jersey. I also hope Cav and Couqard will get involved to make the fight for the green jersey even more epic.

Kristoff and Matthews as well. It should be a real contest for the first time in years.

He could be gold on the cobbles.

Hopefully he'll be allowed to go for the win and not just have to sit with Contador.

He won't, no way. He'll have to stay with contador for sure

Yeah, I think so as well. It's a shame though, because most of the other cobbled specialists - Cancellara, Vanmarcke, Degenkolb, Kristoff etc.. - will probably have free reign to really go for it.

It will be a shame not to see Sagan in the mix as well (Thomas and Boom also I guess will be forced into GC duties).

I would not be suprised if Sagan miss the Tour. I am pretty sure Sagan has told that Russian idiot something he really did not like. And this could be his revange.

OMG I really hate Putin and all those mafia-oligarchs that have been screwing that fasistic country. I wish Oleg go bancrapt as soon as possible.

Yes, Tinkov is a Russian idiot and mafia-oligarch and thats why he is paying your hero fat check for pedaling around.

I'm grateful for Tinkov and any other mafiacorporateoligarch for sponsoring cycling because only a loser would wish anything negative upon anyone else ... especially those spending/wasting money on cycling stars

There was a document this week in Russian state television about the invasion of Russian troops in 68 descrabing it as "brotherly help" to safe Chechoslovakia from fasism. With their troops in Ukraine and their present policy do not expect from me to wish none of the representative of this regime any good. Thank God cycling was here before Tinkoff and it will be also after him.

Why would anyone not living in Russia watch Russian TV is beyond my comprehension. IMO TV is for sheeple so lets leave it right there. On the other hand, US and EU are not exactly peace preachers either and the whole Ukraine situation was more-likely created by the US/EU than Russia.

Either way, while I'm not Tinkov's biggest fan, I dont care where the money came from but I'm glad the "Vodka Clown" is spending his fortune on cycling.

I care about where the money comes from if the dude then gets to troll and make stupid team decisions. Sometimes having a rich owner isn't worth it. There are other things that you need to build a good team.

I agree and I never said about team quality as that is unrelated. Tinkov, like it or not is good for cycling as he is outspoken about many issues and is paying high salaries which creates competitive market where other cyclist are also benefiting from him being around.

Waw what an answer from somebody who probably left in 68. How you ever been in Ucraine. Try to tell this to Maidan people. Yes, you are probably right, there were european and USA money helping those pople, but it was right think finally from EU and USA as it would have been right in 1939 and 1968 towards Czechoslovakia. Ucraine is sovereign country and not russian colony.

I used to love Russia, had been there probably 10 times, but I am scared now as milions people in Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia. Killing and aresting oposition is just a beginning. Thanks GOD we are in EU and NATO now and 68 will not happen anymore. Ok I finish this convarsation as it does not belong here. OK for you money does not smell, for me does.

I think he's back to his best now. He's got 6 wins now this season with another 8 second places. He seemed to lack that little bit extra in the early season. But I think that was due to him being in a new team and having a bit of pressure from Oleg to perform.
I hope he does get to ride for himself in the Tour in a few stages. If he gets a stage or 2 it will confirm he is back to his best

Is Sagan officially back?

Anyone else is hoping the rumor about Etixx transfer would go through?
How would that be a good move for him?

Assuming Cav, Kwiat, and Boonen no longer there? But it's been going on since the end of last season, and I just couldn't see where Sagan would fit. Even without their biggest two or three names, I'm not sure that team won't be loaded enough with potential leaders, and Sagan usually takes a lot of leadership spaces. Not that team like Tinkoff is ideal for him, but at least on paper it provides more opportunities. It's not really the case of 'weak teammates' that he failed to deliver early this year.
Except I miss the news that Etixx will undergo massive change next year, which mean I totally miss the point

From today's live coverage:

Sagan's stage win yesterday was his second on this Tour de Suisse and his 11th in total at the race, which equalled the longstanding record held jointly by the two giants of Swiss cycling, Ferdi Kübler and Hugo Koblet. As Sagan waited to mount the podium, a Swiss television reporter hopefully asked if the names Kübler and Koblet meant anything to him. "No," Sagan shrugged... This morning's L’Équipe recounted the scene, with a footnote listing their achievments playfully addressed to "all the Sagans who might be reading us."
