Oh, and if hr does leave, he can take "Bobke" with him. He's almost as big a Wonderboy apologist as Phil.

Bobke is Worse-he went on a retreat with Lance right before he made the cancer comeback, rode with him for 2 weeks in SC. Heard about that for Years and Years; how he helped Lance comeback. The love was palpable!!!

Take a look at the cq top 100, and tell me how many riders do you think Ligget can match a face to a name to a team? Every commentator i have come accross would be at least 95 on that

You're obviously forgetting Hugh Porter :)

Even Phil could spot the difference between the Russian and Italian team colours at the Olympic road race.

I vote senile and deluded by partisanship/friendship.

"I believe the last two winners of The Tour de France, Cadel Evans and Bradley Wiggins, were totally clean."

That cinches it.

Someone call WADA. Phil has called it so correctly, we have verified non-analytical positives on them both.

Dave.

Predictably, Phil is still swallowing what Lance says totally:
"He just wants to compete"
What a load of s***!
Any monkey can see this is nothing to do with Lance competing again: he just wants to keep his money and avoid jail.
The trouble is Phil has provided the commentary to so many of my best sporting moments: they are all tarnished by his idiocy now.
Just retire and shut up, PLEASE!!!!

Head in sand

Phil Liggett and anyone else involved at a similar level in cycling would have to be exceedingly stupid or totally senile not to suspect Armstrong, but that doesn't mean that they knew anything concrete. So calling him a liar is probably over the top. However, he must have had his head stuck way down in the sand, and also lacked the guts to really push anything "controversial" which might rock the boat. Liggett really must retire. Besides, he is making increasing numbers of mistakes in his commentary - time to go Phil. I for one don't want to hear his voice again.

Do you think Liggett knew that Armstrong was a cheat all along and that he covered everything up for Lance or was he just senile and stupid enough to believe the lies until they hit him smack bang in the face?

of course he knew.

I say senile. I think his commentary and comments in the past show him as gullible and rather stupid over the past decade. He use to be rather good commentator from what I have heard of him and he sometimes does a good job but he makes many mistake and dumb comments.

c'mon. senile like a fox maybe. liggett has financial ties with armstrong. just because the veil of denial is starting to lift for you many of us have known for years "they all dope".

And Liggett is different from every other english speaking cycling hack who sucked on Armstrong's **** in what way?

Not to defend Liggett, and he gets all the abuse he deserves and he is certainly one of the most vocal, but there are plenty of people, including most of CN, Eurosport etc who are also either liars or very stupid.

Liggett is an easy target, others need to be called to account as well.

This is not a good poll as the top two choices are hardly mutually exclusive. I would say he is a senile liar.
Are there really 6 people reading this forum who are addled enough to believe at this point that LA didn't dope? Or did they misunderstand and think they were answering that Liggett didn't dope?

This is an offensive comment. Ligget is totally unable to identify even the top riders in the world, nor their abilities, unless they are from the US England or Australia. He even got Valverde wrong 2 years back. Val ****ing verde.

The guy who was world number 1 pretty much none stop for years, and Ligger has no clue who he is. I have never in my life met a cycling fan who didn't know 100 times more about cycling than Ligget and for once i am absolutely not using hyperbole.

Take a look at the cq top 100, and tell me how many riders do you think Ligget can match a face to a name to a team? Every commentator i have come accross would be at least 95 on that, Ligget, hell will wiggins, Froome and start struggling once he gets to Cav.

My favorite Liggett moment is from 2011 RVV, he even said gilbert was sprinting when boonen launched his sprint

Btw, he's completely rubbish as commentator and a liar, that's pretty much no-brainer

Will dismiss Phil as senile. That's what he is. He wasn't a rider during the doping days. Bob Roll - different story entirely. He should be immediately hanged for his outrageous flat out lies, as well as fined, and even perhaps imprisoned in some way if possible in one of these foreign countries. His actions were even worse than many riders.

"He is a control freak he's a bully he's a street fighter he's arrogant he's brash"

"i've seen all those symptoms throughout the times I've known him, he's a winner"

"I've always known those things"

"He doesn't believe he's ever done anything wrong"

"I really don't think he sees the problem"

"He lied under oath, he's left himself wide open, he sued newspapers successfully, they have every right to ask for their money back ... as do the organisers"

"It's an era gone by I'm delighted to say, I'm talking back to 2005, the sport has moved on, it has tightened its controls ... the sport has already moved on, it's something of the past"

"He came from a single-parent family, he's had to fight for everything he's got in life"

"When any athlete stands out head and shoulders above the rest, there should be suspicion"

How about 'naive'. I would have entered the poll had that option been offered as I am not a doctor and I cannot know about his possible senility. He was a lot sharper last year (relatively) in his TdF commentary than the other brummie who was BBC's Olympic choice, Hugh Porter. :(

As an aside, I hope we get more commentary from the little fellow who did the Vuelta, he really knows his stuff.
