Definitely more challenging; but you have to think in the form he is in that he may never have a better chance of winning it. Surely it's worth giving it a shot, rather than saving himself and trying to win Amstel for the nth time.

Even if he doesn't win, he can be an amazing team-mate for Boonen and repay him for the work he did today.

Would rather see Gilbert dropping PR due to the risk of crashes and accidents, and aiming for AMG and LBL. If he wins the latter, I would certainly rank Phil as the greatest classics rider in this millennium ahead of both Bonnen and Cancellara!

There aren't more risk of crashes in Paris-Roubaix than in Amstel Gold or Milan-Sanremo. However Phil only raced Paris-Roubaix once and that was back in 2007. I remember reading the Dernière heure the next day and he said "it was even harder than the Tour of France". Of course those words marked me. He was liquified. Paris-Roubaix is not the Tour of Flanders, it's really something else and perhaps he is (was at that time with Madiot) too lightweight for it. This being said, he's always had this dream from his youth years to win all five classics that are now called Monuments. I'm not sure it interests him to win Liège once again, even if he's from the Province. This being said I'm enjoying his tremendous victory. Not much to add now.

When was the last time something exciting happened in AGR or LBL? Must have been in the 90ies. Roubaix stands miles above those races. Phil knows that, he will be there.

I think he has much bigger chance of winning LBL than PR. That's the only reason.....

In 2011, sure. In 2017, not so much. He is a different rider now and should target Roubaix.

I don't even think he has a chance in LBL anymore. The way it is raced is just terrible.

People look far too much in that blond hair lol... It was just a bet with his hair dresser if he won the Belgian Championships... If people really want to know, he's going bald for this year's Giro. Already looking forward to the doping stories people will conceive because of it lol.

Anyway, Gilbert said his childhood idol was Michele Bartoli. Not a surprising choice if you compare their careers.

So it's for certain now he won't ride PR. Personally I'm a little bummed. He was so strong in Flanders - I wanted to see what that would translate into at PR. Doubt he'll get anything out of FW or LBL....not with Martin and Alaphilipe in the team.

But Valverde didn't really ride it that well for many, many years until 2014.
