Playing around with IR

The 1857 RR depot outside my window.

I dug up my 10 year old, very first digital camera recently and have been playing around with near infrared imaging. Been using two different IR filters and in-camera settings only, no post processing.

Smugmug is great, I had visions of making $$$, so far I am up to about $100...another 5K to go before I break even!

That's one of the Proman Jr's, Nikka...I think you have to be old enough to drive to be included in the babes on bikes thread. How about we use my girl instead...

which of these two is better...
with redundancy looming we are going down the competition route and hitting a few photo competitions..
we cant decide which one of these we prefer for a baby photo competition though.. :/

opinions welcomed..

First one... the viewer is immediately drawn to the eyes and the baby's expression is a tad happier.

The second is not as sharp and the top of the head is well blown out.

+1. More to read in the first one. You are immediately drawn to the smiling baby, but then there is more depth as you realize there is the laughing woman in the background.

Nice IR. I am just about to splash out and get my old D70 converted to IR. I'll let you know how the experiment works out.

Great photos everyone. It's spring here in New Zealand so I've mostly been shooting things that capture the changing season.

Stunning photos, Tugboat. Particularly like the clarity for the pigeon. What lens did you use for this photo?
