Did I say that they didn't contribute? No. Will they officially get the same prize money? No.

Winners share their prize money with a team. It's quite eloquent.

And yet the other 8 Argos riders, who apparently contributed nothing, will all get the same prize money for this stage as Degenkolb.

Unfortunately unless they finished in the range of positions that gives an individual rider points they will have nothing to show for their efforts at the end of their contract with their team. The emphasize by the UCI is too much on individual accomplishment with no reward (points) for those that assist the winner.

Their role in success is fundamental. Who gets money has only symbolical meaning in this case.

Which option do you choose? Either it is a team sport [which you disagree with] and Sky is the best team or it is indivdual one and then Sky has the best riders in the world induvidually? Impossible to stay on both sides of the river.

they are more like a marketing machine, a publicity stunt than a cycling team. their robotic approach to racing, their ridiculously obtuse, smug press releases regarding doping, marginal gains, etc., numb the brain and irk the living **** out of me. i do like most of the riders. (except for the one with the Fred Perry collection) cant cheer for them though.

Why despise a team for practising marginal gains, and using science to win races? Sky do have a high budget, but they get a lot more results than teams that are financially similar. Blaming a team for pleasing their sponsors goes too far IMO.

Sky act like any other team in their situation would do, and that's why I don't have a particular opinion towards Sky as a whole. Some other teams annoy me a lot more.

I dislike them partly for the way they ride, partly because I am never a fan of teams who dominate, in any sport

One year ago I hated them. Mainly because the most of the Sagan haters were British. And they still are . However hating is gone now and I am learning to like some of them or at least respect them. Option No.3- sounds fine for me.
I really like this thread. There were few fine posts here. Team sport? Individual? Did Froom win?

I am kind of Netserk fan. Too much team tactics and discipline is killing the sport and not only cycling.. If it is on me I would even ban using powermeters, radios.

The objective of all the team Sky mates (exept Wiggo), was to win the TDF as a team not as an individual rider (Wiggo's case), so did they win ? Yes, they won the TDF.

As a member said, I dislike Team Sky as a team too, cause they're so dominant, they kill a good "script" before the race even start.
Also just after Armstrong case it is a bit hypocrit when a guy from Sky condamn this era and in the same time they're so dominant (like or even more than the US.Postal).
In the other hand, I do like some individualities in this team, like Porte or Froome, they couldn't be hated, they are so smooth, quiet and smiling, difficult to hate them.

It's why I think it's bad for cycling that Porte re-signed with team sky for the next few years...

For their ridiculous PR, the robotic riding style of most of them, and most of all for the way they neutralize racing with their train, I don't like them. Sometimes they make me really not like them, like Prati di Tivo like stages.

I do like a number of their rider though (Dombro, Boswell, the Colombians, Froome when it's a choice of him or Wiggins).

How can't you love them?

You know, the marginal gains foolosophy is all there is to know about modern pro cycling.
Well, that and Sagan, who is a matter of study in itself.

Also, is there another team which has a Knight, a Dog and a Tank Engine and two Soviet mother****in Freights?

Hilarious stuff there.

Wiggins said he wanted to do the Giro-Tour double. Instant conclusion: Wiggins is an arrogant ****. Great way of thinking! :)

Man, I need to start making some polls or something, because I see polls nowadays don't even have a other/Vino option anymore. ;)

I think this is worth for being reported for trolling.

Throwing out the bait pretty much, mod's?

Report about anyone who thinks this way too. Alright? Be honest to yourself.

Wiggins DARED to be like Contador. Part of the forum finds this impermissible. One more reason.

I like sky because they have a well developed team and won le tour through team strength and a very strong (but not the strongest at climbing) very consistent leader. I don't really like Wigans but he's not meant to be liked.

Tactics and the team aspect of the sport are my favorite aspects of pro cycling, and I found it entertaining to see Rodgers and Porte impacting the race for GC even though they werent riding for themselves.

I don't think there is any strong negative sentiment towards Sky I just think this forum is an echo chamber for AC fanbois to blog about their obsession while any other viewpoint is banned/banished to the clinic.

I definitely wouldn't call Sky "dominant" unless you are talking about that tour. They haven't and wont prove that they can repeat what happened due to the parcours, field, tactics employed, luck, and they aren't even all in for le tour this year.

So what are people really complaining about? Beats me.

It was a daft move to make the poll picks visible.

Either that or this forum is a lot more moderate than it seems.

The poll has to be visible, we have to know who the enemy is. :p

So you also liked the HTC-train?

Yep, fluid and brilliant, so much skill on display.

I also love seeing Contador skip off up a mountain, Boonen and Fab blow everyone away on the cobbles or Gilbert leaving people for dead on a wall.

I'd be just as happy to see Ryder, Nibbles and Cuddles work together to tear Sky apart.
