Ponferrada 2014 in trouble?

The Spanish government has dramatically reduced the funding of sporting federations, including the cycling one. That means several events, such as the 2014 Worlds in Ponferrada are in serious trouble.

The mayor of the town went on record saying they will comply with the contract they signed with the UCI and the 2014 Worlds will be held in Ponferrada, but as of today there is no guarantee sufficient funds will be found.

I hear they'll hand the matter over to Unipublic and they'll just ride around through flat terrain for 170km and then finish on top of the steepest hill in town.

..but they won't tell the riders about any hill, so they get there with the wrong gear.
