Also strange Ratto didn't properly lead out Bronzini

Yeah Italy looked a bit disorganized in the finale, considering they rode for Bronzini all day long.

Especially as the Italians were far less aggressive than usual because of the aim of racing for Giorgia. Although Ratto was in the penultimate lap move and Elisa Longo Borghini in the quartet at the end.

Edit: Ratto's interview "I tried to disorganize the bunch in the lead-up to the sprint as the group was too mixed up to pilot Giorgia to the front properly"

Just saw a replay of that big crash. The first rider who went down got hit 4 times by riders travelling at quite a speed. I hope she is okay.

Vos clearly waited then jumped far too early. Very stupid bit of riding by such a great rider.
Normally she can win such a sprint, it's better for her than an ultra short sprint where Bronzini is faster. She just didn't have the legs, you could see that all day (it just speaks for her immense talent that she still got quite close at some point).

First time I've seen the course, and it's a bit erm, disapointing

Doesn't seem too difficult, and business park chic for a lot of it

Looks like they didn't want any actual fans there for medals ceremony--cordoned off the whole area except a set of bleachers for the photographers??

How arrogant on your part. As if she didn't know what was best for her. #Fail

In other news, the British Coach time traveled back a few weeks and retroactvily selected Mark Cavendish for the Worlds

That was a hilarious finish. Funny seeing so many riders collectively lose their heads, and I'm glad Vos didn't win, for a change.

They have Ben Swift. Cavendish doesn't stand a chance, it's not Copenhagen.

ok finale with some of the main players getting in the wind.

But until 20km to go, nothing happened just like with many controlled mens races.

Congrats to PFP and France.

Looks like someone like Rogers/Nibali/Valverde can deliver it. Otherwise, tommorow we'll se some kind of a bunch sprint.

Rogers? Surely you mean Rodríguez? Rogers would probably be working for Gerrans even if he WAS noted for aggression in this kind of race, which he isn't.

The moment of recognition.

PFP: "I was lucky that the Germans pulled hard in the closing kilometres" *turns to Brennauer* "so thanks".

Lisa Brennauer will take some topping for rider of the week though. Only a few centimetres away from doing the clean sweep, winning the ITT, the TTT and being 2nd today.

Bridie O'Donnell: "the happiest people of all are the French federation who can finally take down the 679 photos of Jeannie Longo from their site"

Superb race for the Womens, but jesus what SHOCKING coverage by the BBC. Having a go at Annie Last for being a MTBer, but nothing about Ferrand-Prevot doing any MTB events at all.

Vos isn't in the best of form, definitely not as good as she was the previous years.

Good call. I thought the same after the TTT. It isn't logical you get dropped in a TTT if you're the best woman cyclist ever. It was a bad omen.
She just wasnt good enough today.
