My weekly cycle is from lower Almaty up to the dam above Medeo ice skating rink.
I am reliably informed that altitude rises from 680m upto 2150m in around 18.5km
It's beautiful.

Yes it is. I was there earlier this year. Beautiful big mountains, right on the edge of town. Didn't get to ride though :(.

Damn GCW those are some proper climbs in your area!!

I have been kind of lazy lately to post some profiles but here my new favourite ride, i like it because it would certainly make a legit last part of a mountain stage:

That last climb is a proper tough cat1.

Actually now that i think of it i could easily build an entire mountain stage in my area:

I made this without putting in much effort as i am certain you can build a much harder course over the 2 first climbs and reduce by a lot the flat between the 3rd and 4th climbs using a road i forgot was there :p. Obviously more k's would need to be added but that wouldn't be much effort to be honest :p

Just to give you an idea of the hills, this is the toughest (by vertical gain, not steepness) hill close to me that I'm aware of (it wasn't a part of this route):

You don't know how much I envy you guys living close to real hills, or even proper mountains!

Hills! That would be me.

If I ever have my Garmin fixed I'll post some real stuff for you to behold.

That climb you got there is 7.7% average, which is already a respectable gradient. I wonder how much steep you can get in there.

I live in a really good area for riding. Constant rolling hills. Near the TDU Stirling stage for those who know it.

The only thing missing is a really big mountain. Biggest climb you can do starts about 200m and finishes 700m over about 9km, but looking at some of the other profiles here, it looks like i don't have too much to complain about.

(edit: 42km ride min elevation 317m max 698m total 1400m)

Since I'm from Holland and I don't live in AGR-country, every ride I do is exactly this: ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________. However, I'm gonna go start cycling in Nijmegen area also, where there are some small hills of 60m elevation

I know how you feel

I call it a hill when it rises for more than 200m :D

I don't know exactly where you live, but if you're close to Zwolle =, you could try the epic Holterberg. Officialy it's a 10 km climb, but ofcourse it's mostly downhill and flat instead of climbing.

However, the most famous part is the Motie-weg, some 700 meters wall :)p) with 10% maximum.

I've ridden myself this climb like 40 times, because it's part of a nice training session of 40 km.

I'm just lucky i don't live in the Nothern provinces, where you would get super excited about some bridge;)
