Mountain races are actually quite fair, as the strongest guy mostly wins.. Tactics, wind etc. are less important.
So it´s absolutely unbelieveable what Colombia shows. With the exception of Atapuma last Friday, they showed almost nothing all year. I can´t understand that.
They train a lot at home, in high altitudes, most of them are mountain specialists, have the built, should nave naturally high Hct levels, maybe even >50, like Cunego as one of the few Europeans..

Really strange, don´t have an explanation.

He looked good too. Probably third strongest man in the race today, behind Gabrovski and Bardet

another person who knew gabrovski said he was a stubborn guy and it ruined his career. he only did what he wanted and in the end teams got fed up with him despite his massive talent

No, but Duarte was supposed to be a lot better than that. Some people have already said that Chavez is a big talent but he is yet to prove it in the pro-peloton. But Duarte and Atapuma have already proven they are good enough to be fighting with the best. Atapuma did his part in Trentino, but Duarte has been awful this year. Maybe the change of teams or coach has not helped him at all.
