McQuaid, you buffoon. You are one of the reasons why Rabobank left after 17 years of sponsoring. You have helped destroy cycling, along with your bosom buddies Hein and Lance.

If you even dare to contest anything in the USADA report, you should just resign immediately.

Whatever. UCI will be soon alone. Without the big sponsor money, they are nothing.
Cycling will become as obscure as the Inline Skate Hockey League.
Unless someone has the balls to start a breakaway

Wait I'm confused about the text and what exactly it said. Cyclingnews quoted it as this:

“All I can say is that there are many, many stories and suspicions, but no trace of PROOF. There is none. LA [Armstrong] never tested positive, not even by USADA.” -Hein Verbruggen

hmm, a press conference. I would have sworn fat pat would just issue a statement and do this as quietly as possible. I am kind of surprised he's going to issue a PC. Almost makes me think he could be challenging the report...naw couldn't be

will Pat & Co. ever dare to "challenge the USADA verdict & take it to CAS" after all what has happened this week alone?

can they be that "corrupt & Stubborn"?

Appeal to CAS over jurisdiction and lifetime bans for the Garmin 4!

Go UCI! Do it!

This is what I was thinking would happen, but with the press conference being announced, opposed to a press release, I'm not so sure anymore. I still believe they will load their statement with assurances that the UCI has never done anything wrong and takes no blame, but that is not exactly going out on a limb. I also think they will raise, in their opinoin at least, "serious questions" about the content of the report, the way it was handled, and the penalties handed out (namely the reduced bans for those who testified).

Does anyone think the UCI might announce a unilateral 2 year ban on the other admitted dopers? I know this is technically not allowed, but the UCI has a history of selectively applying the rules. Could they just decide on 2 year bans and say anyone who disagrees can take it up wth CAS themselves?

in a press conference the press will make toast of them if they are going to appeal. I highly doubt that.

Because Heiny and Patty are already cooked, they can be free to take whatever decisions, UCI future matters them less than their own.

Despite of that I don't think they will appeal to CAS. WADA and USADA should still have other bomb A

This is the UCI who said they were leaving it up to USADA when they were already sending letters in regards to "jurisdiction". What the UCI says and does is often different.

The UCI's motivation here is to protect the hen house. Everything else is periphery.

I think they'll want to punish the Garmin 4 as warning shot to other cyclists. Talking gets you NO where. Its not like they had a choice with the threat of perjury but the UCI doesn't care.

Question remains have they cross-referenced everything with Armstrong. Because he may be getting to the point where he wants to burn the UCI.

UCI screws the Garmin 4 and get back to the business of omerta as usual.

I have no faith in that organization.

Prediction:

- UCI says that they will appeal the USADA decision in some respect, softly acknowledging that evidence is strong but citing some minor technical points that make no sense

- public outcry is huge for 5 days

- UCI retracts appeal; Hein says they 'never never never' said that they were appealing the USADA decision

It honestly doesn't matter what they do.

Even if they gave back his 7 Tours. What does that mean? Nothing.

He's finished. Gone. Forgotten.

I agree, but if the UCI doesn't appeal then it leaves nothing for the remaining fanboys who argue that Lance hasn't last his 7 Tours yet.

UCI appeals -> ASO secedes, the opportunity they were waiting for. What do ASO care about the UCI anyway. It always surprised me that they accepted to play ball with FatPat after he himself acknowledged he was helpless when Clerc was playing hardball with him.

They can't screw them direct, they can only appeal the USADA decision to CAS, in the meantime the 6 month suspension is in effect and CAS will tell them to shove it. A waste of time and money if you ask me but FatPat and Heiny probably can't care less.

care?

fat pat / mr v care well enough.................worried that they can't save face
/keep the gravy train going

i did not believe that uci would dare appeal usada's case to cas and still don't

road race thinks they will ( and he is better informed than myself ) if uci goes ahead and appeals it sure will not be pretty

fat pat / mr v sacrificing cycling's olympic participation for their own agenda

can fat pat question the CAS jurisdiction if he doesn't like the outcome? Is there any "we're taking out ball and going home" exit option for the UCI?

Oops. Sorry. I was a bit naive in forgetting that many other forum users here aren't in the US like me. ESPN is the biggest sports channel in all of North America, including US, Canada, and Mexico. If I am not mistaken Eurosport is the biggest in Europe, and SBS the biggest in Australia.

Hopefully, that video will load for you guys outside of N. America. It is quite good and worth a couple minutes of watching.

SBS wishes they were the biggest sports channel in Australia.

Fox Sports arguably is on pay tv. Free to air, then Channel 9 or Channel 7 would be.

SBS gets football (soccer) and cycling. They posted more cycling than ever this year, but still cover only a little fragment of what Europe receives.

Channel Ten does mostly motorsports. MotoGP and Formula 1. They have a split deal with channel 7 and shows some AFL. They have been known to show triathlon and surf life saving when it suits their interests, which generally means in the summer.

Channel 7 gets AFL and the V8 Supercar series. Channel 10 use to have the V8s but were outbid by Channel 7 to the tune of a few hundred million dollars.

Channel 9 does Rugby League. It is their staple and biggest view drawer. In the summer they do the cricket. They also since the last winter Olympics have had the IOC contract for the Olympics. They do a very, very poor job at presenting the Olympics as well. Channel 7 sucked, but Channel 9 took sucking to a whole other level.

ABC...netball, obscure basketball games from the NBL, lawn bowls, odd motor sports. The weakest of the lot.

Fox Sports...they cover everything. You pay for it, you can watch it.

So to say SBS are the biggest...not a chance dude. Not even in the top 3. They are an outlier. Fox Sports is the biggest, then Channel 9, Channel 7, Channel Ten, SBS and then the ABC. In that order.
