Why exactly is tomorrow a Purito climb? Short? No. Steep? No.

Because it is a **** climb till 1 k to go, and then it's another explosive finish. Last year, 30 guys finished between 1 minute.

Or do you think today was a steep finish? If you think so, you desperatly need new glasses:p

Purito finished 3th in the Tour. Please stop with that annoying 'Purito and long climbing' nonsense

He looked strong and comfortable today.

Maybe he plans to do a "Gilbert 2011"? I don't know if he cares about Amstel through.

He isn't a big favorite for amstel, Cauberg is not hard enough for him, but his best result is 2nd so if he feels good he could have a go, any given sunday and all that.

I think today fell in the first category.

??

We still don't know if Contador is the better climber after his suspension. In TA, Conta was impressive, but Purito and Froome weren't there. So tomorrow we will see THE answer.

And which 'role' is that? Myself?

And if Nibali was in the race, we would only see who is stronger atm. I think that follows from my earlier post.

This is a thread to discuss Purito's results, not to begin a private war.

Sorry if my post was a beginning of some sort of war. I really can't see how it is.

No it isn't, but i'm realising this discussion is quite useluss. We both not interested in each others opinion concering Purito.

It's better to discuss about something we have in common. I still have to find what;)

I can't really see how you can speak on my behalf.

I just hope he will go for it. He should be able to distance himself for the rest of the favorites on the steep mid-section of the Cauberg if he is in good shape.

Based on your answers i can

But that's not relevant.

I'm not sure I follow. How does either of the following points show I'm not interested in your opinion regarding Purito?

1) I think Contador is a better climber than Purito.
2) I don't think tomorrow's climb is a particular good climb for Purito.
3) I think today's climb was rather short.
4) I think we'll see who is stronger tomorrow. Not the final answer as to who is the better climber.

I thought your last answer was more in terms: 'it doesn't matter who wins, Contador remains far the better climber'

I'm sorry if i misunderstood that.

The only thing is that i think that you're opinion about Purito in general is to harsh, or based on some kind of antipathy. I think it's partly based on his racing style, which is not as attacking as someone like Contador?

I really can't take a ranking seriously that suggests that Valverde is the best climber in the world. Or maybe it doesn't suggest that. In that case it's totally irrelevant to the discussion.

Valverde races more often, more points. He's not a TDF Specialist, scoring all season.

Contador has been off, until this Spring. We'll see if he's fresh in July.

I go back 2yrs, the best 5 climbers in the world are.

Froome
Quintana
Nibali
Purito
Valverde

Berto should take his place back?

Totally agree all three accounts except the one about his form ;)

Good win for him, but I hope Bertie drops him today :)
