jsem94 said:So, do we think he'll opt for the Tour? Personally, I've changed my mind now and I think he should go wholeheartedly for the Vuelta-Worlds.
So maybe a schedule like (roughly):
Dauphine / Tour de Suisse
Österreich-Rundfahrt
San Sebastian
Vuelta a Burgos
Vuelta a Espana
World Championships
Lombardia

“It hurts to leave the Giro, but there is no other option,” said Joaquim Rodriguez. “The crashes were bad for all of us. The road was very slippery and we were going 60K an hour. Just touching your brakes was enough to crash.
"But that is a risk we always take. It is part of our job to try to be in the front to fight for the victory. I really cannot blame the organization or the local roads.
"After the crash I got back on my bike immediately, more full of aggression and determination, but after a while I clearly felt what the problem was, as I could not breathe anymore.”

Reading this interview breaks my heart.

No complaining, not blaiming anyone. Just being the awesome guy he always is, despite breaking 1 more rib and his thumb and having to abandon his big goal this season... the Giro.
Pentacycle said:Actually I'm kinda hoping he'll get slightly injured before the Giro so he won't be able to ride it, but Rodriguez knows his own body best...
"The Vuelta a España was and is the next big goal for Joaquim Rodriguez. However, in the light of the recent situation, his participation in the Tour de France cannot be excluded. Anyway, everything will depend on the recovery process of “Purito” and his general race preparation progress.

If he does the Tour he will probably at best end 3rd again and miss his chance to win the Vuelta. Could always win Fleche Lombardia if they keep the same route as the last couple of years though.
