I don't see him going to the Tour and not diggind too deep a problem. Going for a stage or two and maybe for the polka dot would be nice.

IF he's forced to go- then just do the 1st week and pull out , but considering that the 1st week is when all the wrecking & accidents happen- I ask why take a chance there?

He will not take any risk to come back to soon. So no Suisse is logical. Winning the last two stages would be impossible anyway, otherwise he should go for the podium in the Tour.

No i'm saying if he won the last 2 stages in Suisse (which is a useluss discussion btw because he won't start). I'm not saying he's gonna to get the Tour podium. He's not good enough at the moment. He doesn't have the form to get even top 10.

But if he's on his level, Nibali isn't better. As a GC rider, you have to have some luck. Nibali is a bit overrated in my opinion.

Froome and Contador are better, but Purito doesn't have to get sleepless nights from Valverde, Nibbles en co.

It's a wise decision to do the Tour without gc focus. He can stay away from trouble in the first stages (by riding at the back and finishing in grupetto once the sprint trains hit the front) and then try to focus on stage wins. Stage eight is perfect for him and in Alps he can try some breakways or stay with the best to see how good his is in comparision to top climbers. He will finish in top20 gc anyway unless he ride some of the mountain stages in grupetto.

He will focus on the Vuelta. That's why he's not going for GC. You can doubt if it's the good way to prepare the Vuelta (not a good idea imo), but you can't say he isn't focusing on the Vuelta.

It's never appropriate for any rider to crash. Jrod has shown that he can ride two gt's back to back and perform pretty well. Last year he did this and was competitive in both of them. This year if he keeps his word and only goes for stages and doesn't push himself at the Tour, then he should be more than fine come the Vuelta.

According to the CN article Katusha wouldn't even mind if he lost minutes in the early stages because it would give him some more liberty in the later stages. So.....he can just take his time on the cobbles and not crash.
