It's not about winning. He just has to start with the intention to win stages. Mende, Bretagne, Huy. Hell, so many chances for a bunch of stage wins.

And the fact he rides the Tour, also strenghts his chances for the classics, because he doesn't have to hold back a little bit with the Giro in mind.

As long as he actually win some stages and classics, then I don't really care his chances for an overall GT victory. He is one of the riders I really like, both as a rider and a person. His climbling seems to be on the same level as it always has been, but I'm really concerned for his "punch". That's how he wins races and he didn't really have that perfect signature finish this year.

He should do what Valverde did this year. Trying to get as many wins as much as possible whatever it's in small or big races.

That's a good post. What do you think his 2015 program should be? I'm thinking a schedule like Valverde this year. He needs to get some more wins. Maybe he should try Strade Bianche.

If Contador, Froome, and Nibali all do the Giro he should probably focus on Tour-Vuelta. Best case scenario- he lucks out and gets too face off against a tired version of the trio at the Tour and Vuelta.

Sadly though, I think his best chance to win a GT slipped away in 2012.

It's not about winning? Stage wins over the GC? I'm fairly certain any rider at Purito's level that has NEVER won a GT would much rather go for the overall as opposed to stages.

He went for stages at the Tour this year...grand total of zero. Oh, and lost the polka dot jersey. He can't use the Giro as an excuse. Majka rode the entire Giro and still had plenty in the tank.

You just read my mind;)

Strade Bianchi would be a dream come true if he rides that, because he's got all the capabilities to win that race.

I was thinking a program like this:

- Races at Mallorca (instead of San Luis, although i know he is going to do that last race)
- Tour of Algarve (instead of Oman)
- Strade Bianchi
- Tirreno
- Volta a Catalunya
- Basque Country
- The 3 Classics

And after a rest period the Dauphiné and Tour.

Looks perfect to me.

You know what caused him to abandon the Giro? The guy broke 2 ribs and his thumb. He just wasn't in any good form at the Tour, so it was useluss to even start and trying to win stages. In the Vuelta, he was already 4th, so if he had that form in the Tour he would have easily won the polka dots and some stages. Purito was just at 70% at the Tour, which isn't enough to make a real impact.

Majka just rode a very good Giro, and finished it without any problems (apart from 'tiredness':p).

He can't win a GT anymore. At best he gets 3rd in the Tour. I rather win three stages + polka dots instead of a podium place and zero stage wins. He already finished on the podium.

No he wouldn't, not easily. Majka was thermonuclear.

And several stages as well???

If he was in 100% form, surely 2 stages. Perhaps 3.

But if he was 100%, he would most likely fought for GC, so then it's a total different situation ofc.

You said the Vuelta version of Purito. Which 3 stages do you think he could've won then? PdBF, Risoul and Pla d'Adet?

Majka >>>> Rodriguez of this year's Vuelta.

After his injuries, it was difficult enough for Purito to reach his 2012/2013 level in 3 months time.

But he will reach his old level again next year.

The Purito of the Vuelta definitely would have won PdBF, and would have a good shot against Majka in the Pyrenees. So 2 stage wins was possible yes.

I was thinking about something like that just with Suisse instead of Dauphine. Katusha should be paying attention to us!

Suisse is also a possibilty, but Dauphiné definitely brought Purito great joy in the past.

I will fax it to my brother Ekimov:p

If J-Rod takes on SB he should add Roma Maxima as well. They are in the same weekend.

Yeah indeed, and perhaps doing GP Miguel Indurain before Pais Vasco.

I think Kristoff is unhappy about TDF route. Seems like Katusha will have 2 leaders in Tour next year now

Really? The bonus seconds plus cobbled stage give him a chance of yellow for full week even if all goes to plan.

Rodriguez should target stage wins too.

How much time will Kristoff lose on Huy?

DAyum, forgot ahaaa :eek: Scratch that :D

Well to be fair, he's prob the best punchy sprinter and will limit looses best out of all sprinters, but then it depends how tough the cobbled stage will be.

( Kwiat is surely fav for yellow in first week then :p )

If I have to point to a design flaw in the first week, its that Ardennes stage.
We have two other murito finishes later, why add Huy when such a finish changes the dynamics of the first week?

Just showcasing FW?

Wilfried Peeters has said they'll likely focus on stage wins for Kwiatko in the Tour and not GC. I hope they stick to that plan because Kwiatko is too talented to waste his career on top ten placings in the Tour. Hope he rides the Ronde next year as well as LBL.

edit: didn't realize what thread I was in, but saw someone commenting on Kwiatko.
