He rode really strong today. Just two guys better.

Valverde was dropped with 15 seconds by Purito on this climb. He never did that! So Valverde is in super-crisis?

The Tour was so hard, it's a disadvantage for guys like Purito, Valverde, Froome, Quintana etc.

But he said it wasn't serious, so that's not an excuse imo.

But Valverde has not impressed me so far this Vuelta. At least for someone who is a 'potential Vuelta winner'.

Valverde is not in great shape,he didn't even sprinted yesterday when he was suppose to win the stage.Clearly J.Rod is better, but i don't think is enough for a podium place considering the ITT :(

No, but i don't care about that podium. It was already impossible before the start, with that TT.

I just want to see a Purito in a competitive way. And fight with the best. And that he wins a stage. And that's still possible. Hope he has a good day on Cabrales and Ermita Alba.

Yes, he did not abandon or lose 15 minutes so it wasn't serious

Doesn't mean that it did not make any difference to the stage result.

Could be.

I think it's more a logical result based on his riding the past week.

The Andorra stage will tell the tale now. It's home territory for Purito. This is his last chance to win a GT. He's been right at the edge twice already. If he plays the home game well, only the TT can really stop him. I don't know if Dumoulin survives in Andorra. Time will tell.

Well I allready thought so last year, but this year as well shows that Purito's best years were 2012/2013.
He's still a great rider ofcourse, but not as good as back then.

For sure, also really logical. He's already 36. Only papy Horner and Bala progress at that age.

Which is strange by itself, but nevermind ;)

Makes you wonder what he could have done in 2014 without his crash in Amstel, assuming he would be between 2012/13 form and this year's form, he did beat super Contador at Catalunya. Giro 2014 was big missed opportunity IMO.

Looking at the GC picture, his chances of reaching the podium are rising. And I think he's got a legitimate chance to finish 2nd or 3rd. Stage 11 will be a huge advantage to him, remember how well he rode in front of a home crowd at the Tour? Still hoping he can pick up a stage win along the way.

Purito has no chance of a podium. His days of being a serious GT contender have gone. He will lose chunks of time at some point in this race.
Today was a perfect stage for him. The last climb steep and not to long, It's the sort of stage that he used to win uncontended. He just cannot perform with the same consistency anymore.

Should try to win, not should win. Cycling is not a computer game. You can only do your best :)

What a great stage! Ok, Aru was better, but he got 1 minute on Valverde, Chaves, Dumoulin, 2.20 on Quintana, 4 minutes on Pozzo.

He will not win this Vuelta. Perhaps he will not podium (4th). But he shows there still some power and energy left in that old body, and that's something i'm proud of.

VAMOS Purito!! :)

No credit to the evil stage win costing Moreno?

Good effort but no cigar. He cannot climb the mountains like Horner. You have to be consistent and driven and for me Purito has never been any of these things.

Driven he is. He's just not 2012/2013 Purito anymore.

Although he would have won this Vuelta if he would have had the freshness Horner had in 2013 ;)
