He's been a very selfless team-mate in the past, and this season. Has only had two race days since Itzulia, and been in the break three times this race. He's probably just knackered.

The fact is Simmons dropped Van den Broucke like a stone on the second last ascent of the final climb. Then when called back he lost time pulling on the flat to Van Den Broucke. And Simmons is a better rouleur than Van den Broucke.

Or Simmons was given free rein to go for the stage win and Van Den Broucke was riding to be available for Onley at the top of the penultimate climb.

Or [[content deleted]] Simmons dropped his breakaway rivals on the second last climb and as he was caught by the leaders of the peleton he was called back to help Kamna who was in the second group on the road.

Or if you watched the race, Simmons dropped his breakaway rivals on the second last climb and as he was caught by the leaders of the peleton he was called back to help Kamna who was in the second group on the road.
[[content deleted]] Simmons having been given permission to go for the stage win attacks on the penultimate climb. Did I get that right? VDB meanwhile to Simmon's attack is told to back off and wait for the leaders which include his teammate Onley. [[content deleted]] Near the top the group of favorites catches Simmons with VDB in tow. Although it was uphill VDB got more recovery than Simmons and so was able to focus more on opening the gap. Are you seriously saying that Simmons being somehow out for himself didn't go all out in the chase?

Do you realise how hard VDB had to work to hold onto the leading five in the last 1.5kms of the second last climb, while Simmons once caught could drift back to the second peleton who were around 20 seconds back. VDB put around 10 seconds into the Simmons group in the valley when it should have been the other way around.

QS:hair flowing out of his helmet.

PL:That can't be aerodynamic.
BR: Aerodynamics aren't fully understood.
:D

QS is just out spinning his legs today. It wouldn't have shocked me if he would have decided to ride his Madone.

He worked very hard today.. Outstanding effort and glad that he didn't shake hands with Storer until after the 2 zigged and zagged to the finish..
It was unfortunate that Simmons was slightly stronger than Storer, ..Simmons needed a partner, not a camp trailer attached to the back of his bike..Simmons too strong for Storer, but not strong enough to close gap and cross to Healy..good showing despite not winning

Classic example of "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth".

Or perhaps he forgot the lesson of Tim Krabbe, "Always attack as late as you can, but before the others do."

Anyway if you take out Healy then he looked very strong by comparison to all the household names he dropped!

Oh my god. I just noticed i hadn't hit reply last night to this message:

I wonder if stage 10 could be to his taste?
His taste? I assume so. But i think some of the big dogs might have plans for this stage. If a break is allowed to take a lot of time, then i assume he would definitely like to be in it. The thing is, same could be said for a lot of riders. Powless, Healy, Arensman, Buitrago, Alaphilippe, Vlasov, Van Eetvelt, Blackmore...
