Not really, considering I'm a fan of Contador ;)

perhaps to you, as you only seem to be a fan when the rider is Dutch or rides for a Dutch team. :p
You can be a chauvinist ánd a fan of Contador. Which you clearly demonstrate.

OK guys, let's get this back on track.

In this case, we are discussing all instances of the rabotrain derailing, not who the most or least chauvinist forum poster is.

To put things into perspective, at least you guys have genuine contenders to be chauvinistic about. I'm from Aruba, the closest rider I get to be chauvinistic about is Marc de Maar, and I'm not even certain if he was born in Curacao...

You have a connection with the Dutch :p

I just like riders with style. If Pippo always rode like in the Ronde, I'd be a massive fan of him just like I was with Il Grillo ;)

Deep down, you're just a Basque :p
Nah. My grandmother was Basque and my grandfather was Navarrese, but I'm not American so that doesn't count, and I consider myself to be simply Madrilenian.

I was only teasing because I noticed you have a soft spot for Basque riders. But then again, most people do :p

Not sure what the American thing has to do with tho?

It's not hard to not be chauvinistic when you're from Spain though, not a lot of Spaniards are chauvinistic of their country as a whole. (unless they win the World Cup football).

True that. Thanks to my Dutch nationality I get to be a bit partial about Dutch athletes, it's not the same though were it Aruban athletes.

The positives I get out of it though is that I get to cheer for riders based on merits, like you mentioned about Pippo. I am a fan of Contador as well ;) Was a massive fan of EBH in his Columbia days, still am though I hoped he would have been more of a factor by now in the big classics.

Do I, now? I wouldn't say so. I don't really like Antón (nor dislike him), and I don't even get my pants *that* wet for Txurruka. I recognize the potential of guys like Castroviejo and Landa, and Intxausti surprised me last year because I thought he was a good-for-nothing diva after the second half of his 2010 season, but I wouldn't say their nationality has anything to do with it.

Oh, you know, Irish-Americans, people who are a quarter Polish, 12% German, 4% Hungarian, 2% Native American...

Scary thought, you and Bavarian teaming up in what would be a dynamic chauvinistic duo of epic proportions. :D

One of my ancestors is Van Beethoven(great grandfather of the Beethoven), does that make me German?

Nah, he's Flemish alright:p

I've gone through my family history all the way back till 16th century, so I'm 100% Flemish(school project, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered lol).

The French have interesting cyclists though, so why wouldn't you be cheering for them?

We're going to have to wait till the finish of stage 2 of the Basque country before we can discus any Rabobus fails, so sorry for the off-topic :p

Well my traces stop at the 17th century and my family originates from Mettingen..germany. My mums family from some french fishers in normandy 4 centuries ago. Then the traces go cold.. so Pretty certain it's a 50/50% mix. Although the last few generations are purely dutch on both sides.

Did we see signs of revival today?

Mollema looked pretty good to me in Basque country today. And Bos with very little racedays 3rd in Scheldeprijs.
At least not totally sucking anymore

He looked on the way up... and to not even make it to the best 50 makes me think he has perhaps been kissing Gesink.

the scheldeprijs could be won by chris hoy, that's how easy it is. especially this year. and mollema was pretty good but not surprising to me. it's all the others who suck. mollema is good but will never be a toprider. he lacks the sheer class. already henao is better, who is nearly 2 years younger and has never done a wt race before

Henao is one year and one month younger. Nearly 2 years, indeed

The fact that he was better today (not by much though) doesn't mean much, as Mollema needs a lot of racing days before he's really good.

ah yes. mollema is from november 1986. 1 year then

henao wa sa lot better, he paced the group and nealry got them back and also countered before that. just wait till tomorrow to see how much better he is. but of course you also believed he wouldn't be allowed to attack here and they would ride for rogers
