Wow! I didn't expect to see this when I got onto the forum this morning. Anyhow, welcome back to the thread. We haven't been posting any routes since the forum was moved from Vbulletin to Phpbb.

At first I thought it was a stage race race around Nice and Monaco (I've got one waiting to be posted) and thought I was pipped to the post.

Secondly that race through the Alps from Bern to Wien sounds a good race.

Thirdly what profiles do you use?

I'm not going to be able to library anything, since the forum blows and isn't capable of handling the library posts anymore with a maximum of 10 URLs (so a single Grand Tour would require 3 separate library posts), so you'll have to be responsible for keeping tabs of your own races, and they will get lost in the thread, which ruins a lot of the fun.

I'm getting sick of waiting for single post view or a reasonable amount of URLs. Hell, 21 would do, so then each race (with GTs being the max length) could have its own library post. It would take hours to put together the library considering it's a labour of love (I've started trying to catalogue the links, have got through the first 20 pages), notwithstanding that you can't actually post a link to each post anyway as it gives you a heading "undefined/postid" so you have to c+p the website address over "undefined", which for thousands of posts is going to get really, really boring. It was hard enough work keeping track of all the libraries in the thread before, so doing it now with the current limitations the so-called "new and improved" forum has is a task that is way harder than it needs to be.

Just post your races. I'll sort it out as and when, and at the rate of progress we've got on these things (we've been drawing attention to the completely ruined thread since day one of the forum changeover), probably never. At the end of the day, I'm a mile behind in sorting it out anyway, what difference does a dozen people posting a shedload of races they've had backed up for the last month to put me two miles behind make?

The "von bern nach Wien" race would surely be extremely interesting, but its too early in the year. In April most of the really great mountain passes in Switzerland/Austria are closed because of snow. Even in the tour of austria they sometimes have problems because of snow on the Großglockner although that race is in july

I'm surprised you actually included the Oude Kwaremont, as I thought you despised that climb. Or am I thinking of the wrong person?

I don't really understand how you upload your stage profiles and maps from openrunner. Can someone explain how you do that (I hope Im not completely stupid because I don't get it but please help me )

I don't hate it, i just think it is overused.

It's easy. Go to the map or profile, hit the print button, open Paint (should be on any Windows computer) and paste it. Then edit the picture and save it on your computer. Finally upload it to one of the many websites for that. I use Pic Upload, but i think Imgur is the most popular.

In the next few days I'll start posting my 2nd version of the Giro d'Italia and all the high mountain stages will feature climbs that I haven't already used in my first one, or at least a different side of already used climbs, but almost every sigle climb should be a new one anyway.

The missing single post view isn't even that bad,since one can somehow replace it, but this ridiculous cap on the number of links is even more annoying. I would have just said to move the libraries to some free webhoster, but it seems that the numbers of many posts changed as well. I actually wrote a script converting from the old url system to the new only to find our that almost all of the posts have a different number now and I'd just end up at a random point in the thread instead of where i wanted to be.

The problem I have is if I click the "link" button to get the url it gives me "undefined/POSTID" which means to fix it I have to c+p the website URL over every single link to make it work. It's doable but takes absolutely forever... and if I try to fix the OLD libraries, while I'm editing them it tells me there are too many URLs so I can't save any changes I make.

I could move the libraries to a free webhoster once I've finished cataloguing each one's new link (with the "undefined" prefix needing to be fixed, natch), but that would probably mean updating in batches, maybe twice a month or something, rather than doing it as we go along as I had been doing. I don't mean to shout you down when you started posting stuff up again, but it did remind me how frustrated I am at the amount of work that is required just to make the thread usable, let alone how it was (FoxxyBrown is having the same problem with the Great Grand Tour Game fwiw) when the people that made a complete mess of it are being paid for their work and I'm not

If they can give me 25 links per post, I can do a separate post for each stage race, which will be cumbersome and result in me batch-posting about 200 library links in a row (if this is how it does go, I will ask for a temporary ceasefire on posting in the thread so nobody's work gets buried in an avalanche of libraries), but will at least be workable (we'll need multiple branch libraries to get to a stage though, e.g. front post "stage races (WT) -> Grand Tours -> Vuelta a España users A-M -> Libertine Seguros route 3 -> stage 10")...

Cannes - Marseille (207km)
Well, I guess flat stages are also necessary (preferably along the coast for hope of winds), so on the way from Cannes to Marseille the riders will only come across two easy categorized climbs at Les Adrets del Esterel (9.6km@3%,cat4) (it's actually two sections of 4-5% with a short downhill in betwen) and La Beausset (6.6km@3.4%,cat4),with two sprints at Fjeres and Toulon in between.

Marseille-Nyons (210km)
This transitional stage could give good chances to a break, given that the contenders are probably saving themselves for next stage. An early sprint in Cadenet gives the sprinters some points, before the riders climb the Col de la Garde(10.3km@5.3%,cat 2) and a bit later tackle the two short ascents of the Col de St.Jean(5,7km@6,5%,cat3) and Col de Perty(6,5km@5,7%,cat3). With a mostly flat leadin, the best sprinter of the leading group should take this.

Mont Ventoux ITT (21km)
I said there was going to be a hard stage coming up and I think this one qualifies. An iconic mountain of Le Tour tackled on their own by every rider. Starting at Bedoin the riders can warm-up on the first 3km before tackling the iconic ascent to Ventoux (18.5km@7.8%), only given brief respite at the two time-checks at Les Bruns and Charlet Reynard. When everyone reaches the top, we will have truly separated the wheat (GC aspirants) from the chaff.

here is a fictional one day race in austria in the area of vienna, I created

here also a more detailed version of the last 100 km

Big parts of the last climb and the last descent are cobbled and the last about 500 m are uphill.

2. @ progsprach: The cobbles are in good conditions. I have a friend who is a triathlete and he uses this street for training (and he is only 16 years old) so I think it shouldn't be a big problem.

The problem with that, is that there are 36 URLs for the Library on the origanal post.

I will work a way around it. It will probably result in deeper libraries, due to fewer links available, so from (1) front page -> (2) library for fictional stage races -> (3) page for region -> (4) race library, as opposed to previously (1) front page -> (2) library for fictional stage races per region (incl. race libraries).

I may therefore either need dozens and dozens of posts to fill these in, or potentially start a separate thread from this one for Race Design Libraries. Once I've finished cataloguing all the new links, if I'm doing it in this thread, I will ask people to temporarily cease posting to let me sort it out, but until then post away.

Do you havexany pictures of that descent/climb or any others?
Also what would you call it? The Klassiker von Wien sounds good.
