Puck Pieterse is Dutch champion! Alvarado second, Van Empel third. Alvarado came back quite strong toward the finish, but it was too little, too late. Van Empel, I don't know if something's bothering her, maybe her knee, but she seems a little off these last few races.

Both Danish champions ride less than a handful of CX races each season, including the Nationals, then return to MTB season prep.

I was watching the British, French & Dutch races...

Clauzel made her usual super start, and looked in control; Burquier made another terrible start, and was playing catch up, and nearly did it; she has no explosivity at all - she's like another Mitterwallner.
Backstedt led from the start and just rode away, almost TT style.....
I don't know why I'm surprised that Pieterse won, but I expected Van Empel to win - she was even beaten by Alvarado.....never saw that coming. On this course, Vos was never a factor.....

I see Persico won in Italy, on what looked like a dry course - didn't look like the UAE women's kit she was wearing.

Persico is, at least for now, still riding CX for FAS Airport Services(Valcar), but she has been using Colnago bikes instead of Cannondale from the start of the CX season. I don't know if that team will continue nor if UAE is also taking over the sponsorship of it.

Watched the French race and Burquier closed a 12 second gap on that last lap, though Clauzel did make an error, but I think gap was 14 seconds at the time. Amazing that Burquier almost got her on the line. Poor start cost her the race as by the time she got through the traffic, Clauzel has a 16 second lead.

I think Van Empel really needs to get some proper training in on her team camp in Spain. This course was indeed more suited to her than to Pieterse, it was pure power. But she just didn't have it. That's worrying with Hoogerheide coming up real soon.

Yes, that's what I suspected; she rode Val di Sole in the Italian National kit. I'm sure Valcar are to become the UAE development team....

Yes, while it might have been just a 'bad day' she hasn't really had any this season. I recall a comment on another forum along the lines of "you can't keep your form for the whole season". Now I don't know how true that is, but she started the season on form, that's a long time to hold it.

I've noticed a few non sponsor correct equipment in some races.....
Jan Christen riding in his new Hagens team colours, but on the Colnago bike. And Venturini on a Ridley/Shimano as opposed to BMC/Campagnolo....and Annie Last in plain black kit, but on what was a Scott bike....her transfer still hasn't been announced.

In other news, Marcel Meisen didn't win in Germany, beaten by Sascha Weber....and Timon Ruegg won the Swiss title ahead of Lars Forster & Kevin Kuhn.
