Pan Am continental championship also held today. USA takes men's elite (Brunner), women's U23 (Zoerner) and both junior titles. Canada wins women's elite (perhaps a surprising win for McGill over I. Holmgren, no A. Holmgren racing this weekend) and men's U23 (Ackert).

Many of the races, both today and the C2 on Saturday, came down to 2 or 3 rider sprints, as the course did not appear very selective. I say appear as unlike most (all?) of the other North American races this season there was a live stream all weekend in Missoula. Not a great broadcast, mind you, but you got to see most of the course. No U23 races on for the Saturday C2. Winners in the elite categories were Holmgren, who won her sprint vs McGill, and Ackert.

Not sure what's up with Ava but if she returns to racing and everyone decides to race elites the Canadian women's nationals could be one of the most competitive fields of the North American season.

Thibau Nys paid tribute to his companion at the front Felipe Orts, saying he was the "best guy" to have with him in the finale.
"He's super strong and I knew before coming here he would really be ready for this. I think it was really a big goal for him to be really good over here." To have him with me is perfect because we understand each other really well. And we were both riding full for the podium spot. So it was perfect" .

The Pan Ams don't seem like a proper championship - it seems like a normal US weekend with a race each day, and they don't even race in National kits.

Holmgren not winning is probably a surprise - but although she won the day before, it's not really a course for her; she's a climber, as seen in MTB and on the road.
You're probably right, but I don't think this is a bad thing, nor do I think any other way is particularly likely. I do think imposing some standards on the organizer is necessary (last year they had MTB style square race numbers on the front of the bikes!) but neither USAC nor Cycling Canada deploy sufficient resources in CX to make this a true international race. And how silly would it look with two thirds of the field in dark blue and another third in red and white and literally no other country represented.

It would look a lot like the European Championships after the second lap, except light blue and orange.

TREK saying that SRAM chains cost them titles is not good publicity for SRAM!
Which Trek? The Sven Nys' team, which is probable or the actual manufacturer - which seems unlikely, as Trek's Factory teams are all on Sram products. As the Nys team aren't owned by Trek, they could always switch if they feel that strongly - but I suspect it's an over reaction. Mechnicals are a part of cycle racing, you have to accept it........
