Van Anroij is great. Not at all another Brand. She may not be elegant on the bike but she has technique, power and lots of determination. Nice to see her progress! Schreiber and Bakker too.
Compared to Fem and Puck, Shirin has the disadvantage that she has just one gear. A 'koffiemolen' gear (coffee grinder) as we say in Dutch. She can't really accelerate, can't really sprint. But on the harder courses she can just keep going, whereas Pieterse for instance has a bit more difficulty if it's just one long slog to the line.

I think she's plenty elegant on the bike. She's not as skilled as Puck but she seems to have better endurance. Neither Shirin or Puck have the power of Fem when she's on form.

I had expected her to challenge the Dutch girls this season, at least on a few courses. So far, she's not even been close.

I thought so too; but she doesn't appear to have the explosivity/power they have - she usually makes slow starts, and plays catch up. The longer climbs and more technical tracks of XCO are where she shines. Those slow starts may hamper her if she moves up to Elites in XCC/ XCO like they do with Mitterwallner.

It all sounds jealous and ridiculous. Why would Pidcock even bother to put it on Strava it wasn’t legit? Further it’s totally impossible that his FTP is 324W. Garmin/Strava always asks for “accepting” new FTP etc. Has not much to do with reality. The guy who had the KOM is not a pro rider so Pidcock beating him by a margin… why isn’t possible?
I'm simply giving possible explanations, i'm not making any claims. I also don't know who flagged his ride. The guy who had the KOM registered on Strava as a pro athlete.

Sorry for not being clear I absolutely didn’t mean to imply you - just a general remark that it was a very strange flagging. And yes Laverack may be paid but he is nowhere near the top echelon.

No, but the guy is 28 and weighs 59, and has carved himself a niche of doing short climbs from what i gather. Getting beaten by 2 minutes is not nothing. I just checked, Pidcock's ftp in Strava is set to 327.

What an absolutely fabulous series of races we've had. I'm a bit sad for Van der Poel, I really thought he had it today.
I don't understand why he let off the gas after the final pit. He had a much better chance in a 2-up.
