There was a WC race recently (I never make any real attempt to recall locations) in which 2nd-4th were obviously going to be between Ronhaar, Van der Haar and Nieuwenhuis, and Ronhaar was at the time second in WC overall, but they raced against each other for those places rather than keeping Ronhaar as close to Iserbyt as possible.
Evidently they were told that where it is between themselves, to be as competitive as they like.

Van der Poel trained hard to get supercompensation next week. Well that's what most will do. I don't think he'll wait until lap 5 in Tabor. But he'll try and murder lap 1.
Indeed, he won't leave it up to chance. He already lost a WC due to bad luck, so just go for it from the beginning, and even if you get a flat, or whatever during the race you are enough ahead to compensate it.

they were just riding for the World Cup classification. Ronhaar, Vd Haar and Niewenhuis were all within a few points off eachothr so. Nothing to see here really
That makes sense. Where can you find the classification points for the World Championships?

Found it:

Strong ride by TNys. Didn't expect him to be able to stay as long as he did on the wheel of Van der Poel and I also thought he would blow himself up.

And what's going on within the Trek-Baloise team? Ronhaar sprinting against Nys, When Lars vdH was up in the front Ronhaar closed the gap instead of letting Iserbyt do it. Trek-Baloise not a happy-ship?

BTW Van Empel looked unbeatable at Hoogerheide. Completely calm and collected and really solid even on the sketchy sections. Also Brand looked technically solid yesterday and nice to see Blanka Vas finding her form for the WC.
You just can't tell how hard MvdP is actually riding this year. He rode away from the field just as easily as he has in every other race. He cracked poor Nys so hard that he just shook his head. Then crashed 5 minutes later and lost his silver spot. At least Joris saved his matches for when it really counted.

I think young Nys has a ton of skills and potential but he's not there yet. I suspect a road season will help.

Yes, he probably went down due to pure exhaustion, yet he kept up longer than I thought.

Something I'm sure we'll see more of; CX riders connected to, or on WT teams are going to be at an advantage to those 'only' on CX teams. Which is why someone like Bentveld needs to be on a WT team like all her rivals.

Since the addition of women's U23 in 2016, and Juniors in 2020 - All the winners, bar one rider, have ended up on a WT team.....

Ron Pimhaar should be ashamed of himself.
If you're referring to when he chased Van der Haar down, I also don't entirely get that. I realise overall positions were up for grabs between the two, however I still don't think he should've done it with Iserbyt an Van der Poel behind considering how Baloise Trek had been playing it the rest of the race. And to a lesser extent there's the point of a dutchmen chasing his dutch teammate down at a dutch world cup.

Bäckstedt is defending her U23 title, or of course she isn't since Van Anrooij obviously won that one
But she's trying to win it then.
Women's U23 should be at leaest as competitive as the women's elite (because I think van Empel rides away with that one), with Backstedt the heavy favorite, but Bentveld, Zemanova, and Schreiber all possible winners on a fast course. One of the Holmgrens could even nick a podium spot, as their poor starts are less of an impediment in a smaller field.

Backstedt is a championship rider. Ahead of Europeans she wasn't all that impressive, but then on the day she was easily the strongest. I expect something similar to happen this weekend.

Any word on why Pieterse and Alvarado faded so badly yesterday? Worst race of the season for both of them. Did they just dial it back? I know Alvarado had a mechanical, but was with the Cant, Zemanova group after, but still dropped to 15th.
