It's always interesting to see the results of CX Nationals, and to see how strong/ or weak some countries scenes are.
Elisabeth Brandau winning in Germany, again, same as Nadja Heigl in Austria, or a 48 yo finishing 8th in the British Nationals.........

In Denmark the Men's Elite and Men's U23 were combined, and was won by 19-year-old Daniel Weis, ahead of likewise 19-year-old Mads Schulz, and 18-year Jonas Gamborg.

Meanwhile the Women's Elite and Women's Junior were also combined, and was won by 25-year-old Caroline Bohé, ahead of 40-year-old Ann-Dorthe Lisbygd, and 17-year-old Mille Foldager, who - obviously - also became Junior Champion.

There was also 47-year-old Norwegian in the men's race...

Well the winners at the British Nationals were 25 & 24 respectively, whilst the average podium ages were 20 & 22.

So that's not really an issue imo, and the junior races had alot of riders, I think the point is that beyond the top3 in the elite races, there's no depth in talent in the discipline, such that age and fwiw we do still have veteran categories so they chose to ride in the Elite races, is not an issue.

I mean I still think Zoe hasn't turned up to nationals, she's only on a team training camp this week, because when she won it, she lapped near enough the whole field. Same with Pidcock, even if the people think he's no good at this, he'd beat that field easily.

Not just any 47-year old Norwegian, but it's completely made up. Martin Vestby is currently on Mallorca with Uno-X.

Ah, I noticed he was not on the results on PCS, but thought they'd simply cleared away non-Danes.

Just watched replay of Belgian men’s race—very entertaining. I’ve only been watching cross broadcasts for a few years, but thought that this race (more than others I’ve watched) unfolded much like a cobbled classic (without Pog, that is)—the difficult sections toward the end of each lap forced a selection of 5 or 6 riders who got a gap over the rest, but then slowed a bit (like after a cobbled berg) and a bunch of chasers caught up. Happened for the 1st laps until attrition and mistakes splintered the front group. Of course the difference than on the road is how much technique—in addition to power—made the difference when fatigue accumulated at the end.

Also: I never realized the barriers were difference heights at different races. Or was that just the camera angle that made them look smaller today?
